Review

In the thirteenth book of her Topaz Indian Series, author Cassie Edwards takes readers to Maine and the home of the Penobscot Indians. Shanna Sewell is just a girl when she first meets Bold Wolf. She is captivated by the young man and he with her. A bond forms between the two, one that is forged in friendship and love and must stand the test of separation, hatred, secrets and fear. Bold Wolf is the son of the Penobscot Indian chief and he is destined to take his father's place someday. His love for Shanna is strong and true, but the differences that attract them to each other are the very ones that could drive them apart. Ms. Edwards weaves an entertaining tale of two people from different worlds finding love and acceptance in each other's arms. While the story is a little short on conflict, the characters are beautifully drawn and the historical backdrop is fascinating. Readers who have followed this ongoing series will want to add Bold Wolf to their collection of keepers! No one writes Indian romances like Cassie Edwards! Her grasp of historical details is impressive and her characters are memorable! The Topaz Indian Series continues with another fine book from this talented author! One of the longest lasting and most satisfying series to date! Cassie Edwards continues to write the kind of stories readers want! A tender, sensual historical romance! 5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, exciting, & sexy..., May 30, 2000
This review is from: Bold Wolf (Historical Romance, Signet) (Paperback)
...I am from Maine, so I sought out this particular offering inEdwards' Indian series. The Penobscot have my undying admiration, andCassie Edwards has brought their culture to live. As always, the romance sparkles with sexual tension and that unique tenderness which comes between lovers from two cultures. Strong people have strong conflict, and Shanna and Bold Wolf keep the reader gripped to the last page. Very enjoyable!

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, April 2, 2002

I've just finished reading "Bold Wolf" this morning. I have to say that I was extremely disappointed with the book. The flow of the story was not smooth at all. It seems like new things had been constantly thrown into the plot in order to give the book some length. I feel really cheated or let down reading this just after I've finished reading all of Karen Kay's books. I only wish the book could have been half as good as its cover.

Who needs juice with a cover like that to drool over?
I found it so very interesting to learn of [hopefully true] some of the living habits of the Penobscots.

Shanna Sewell seemed to keep her niavety well into later life.
Bold Wolf was a determined suitor and daddy's job was almost gruesome and he appeared to have a prejudice against anyone who would take Shanna away from her violin.
But he did love his family - what ever happens to the twin brothers??

I can't see how Shanna got away from the town without being accosted by some of the lower lifes hanging around. How many brothels were there?
I liked her readiness to accept the little baby she found and wanted to keep.

I loved the intensity of Bold Wolf's and Shanna's attachment to one another and her firm belief [almost] of her destiny with Bold Wolf. I still find it hard to believe her ajustment to the Indian way of life but then the times were a lot different.

We of our day and age [sadly] find it hard to comprehend the earlier times of our country and the peoples' way of living and acting.
We seem to wish our own wide spread looseness of morality on the previous generations [not that some didn't happen] Ah Well!

Still a great story to read with more than just reading value.
Definitely Recommended ?????
