Customer Reviews

This hub demonstrated excellent performance moving data between USB 3.0 devices.

I will say that I wish the cable was a 6' vs the shorter 3' that comes supplied but overall that's just personal preference.

Size Name: 4 Port Portable USB 3.0
Length: 5:21 Mins
This is a nice USB 3.0 port multiplier and it works well in some applications. You really need to understand the limitations of such devices when using it with your computer and external devices. A port multiplier splits the communication rate and power from the USB port to allow it to be shared with the four ports on the hub. In the case of power, a USB 2.0 port can supply 500 milliamps of power and a USB 3.0 port can supply 900 milliamps that will be split 4 ways if you have four devices plugged in.

If your devices are self-powered by their own power supplies you should have no problems. Devices like printers, scanners and some USB Hard disk drives (With external power supplies) are examples of this. In my testing I used a USB powered hard disk drive (HDD) and three USB memory sticks. When I plugged in the port expander all four devices where present in my computer drive list then they disappeared one at a time by themselves and then the USB 3.0 port stopped working I had to disconnect the hub and reboot my computer to get the USB port on the computer active again.

In the example I used for testing, all four devices require power from the USB port to operate and as a result issues occurred. Low power can result in memory loss or the improper writing and reading of data. Using one of these devices or two worked but then it is not a fully functional port multiplier if the power requirements exceed the power capabilities of your computer's USB port like when I was trying to use 3 or 4 devices simultaneously. Had I used my example of a self-powered scanner, printer, a USB HDD with a power supply and a memory stick then all would have been working fine.

The unit is nicely designed and lightweight for portability weighing only 2 ¾ ounces.

Size Name: 4 Port Portable USB 3.0 Verified Purchase
My first problem is the size of this, this must be a desktop model, because it's too big for travel in a briefcase. They could have made it 1/4 the size. If you've used the Belkin USB 2.0 4-Port Ultra-Mini Hub you'll be surprised at it's size. This Sabrent 4 Port Portable USB 3.0 Hub suits my needs much better.

My next problem is why do they use a thick, inflexible cord with an end that sticks out twice as far from my laptop than the next one? Flexible is convenient, as is the end not sticking out 2 inches like a thumb drive.

I'm disappointed with this product because I purchased it for travel. For desktop use with an added extender cable it's fine, but it's too large for travel. I hope that I have helped you make your decision on this product, either way.

Size Name: 4 Port Portable USB 3.0
This is a very decent looking, compact and useful mini USB hub. It is meant to add three additional USB 3.0 ports to your computer. The USB 3.0 ports are backward compatible with the USB 2.0 and USB 1.0 devices. The hub, however, does not come with an external power source, something that is common for most high-end USB 3.0 hubs I've used and reviewed.

The ports seem to be working as advertised. I've only tested this hub with my Mac computers, although it should be compatible with Windows and Linux machines. The transfer speeds seem to be within the parameters for the USB 3.0 standard, although I have not done any precise quantitative benchmarking. The hub is made of plastic, but it seems durable and well-made. It is compact and easy to carry around - it's about twice the size of a larger USB stick.

This product is particularly suitable for people on the go who have several new USB 3.0 devices. It helps you attach all of your high transfer rate devices while you are away from your desk. If you are a photographer or a videographer with a knack for using the fast USB 3.0 external hard drives while you are out shooting, then this hub will be ideally suited for you. It can also serve the purpose of attaching the USB devices to your desktop at home, but its short cord means that you will have to connect them in a very tight little space close to your computer.

Overall, this is a useful and effective small USB 3.0 hub.

Size Name: 7 Port USB 3.0 With 2x1.5A Charging Port
The Bolse 7-port 3.0 USB hub offers a simple way to expand computer's current USB capabilities. With today's growing trends of USB gadgets everyone could always use more!

Plug and play, so no driver installation required. Blue LED lights let you know which ports are in use. Backwards compatible to 2.0/1.1 devices, and best of all has a built in circuit protection. With its sleek black finish design it does not make it an eye sore if you have it sitting out in the in the open.

Comes with a 5V AC power adapter, which means it is not dependent on the computer's power to evenly distribute the power to all ports. Transfer files, sync your devices or just charge them up. The Bolse 7-port 3.0 USB will work effortlessly without any glitches.

Overall, great choice for all your USB needs.

Comes with a 12-month warranty.

Size Name: 7 Port USB 3.0 With 2x1.5A Charging Port
This 7-port USB 3.0 hub would be perfect if only it had a longer power supply cable. It has seven USB ports in all, two of which have added power for charging power-hungry devices such as the iPad. The five side ports are well-positioned to handle flash drives and other USB cables more or less flat on my desk. The top ones, with added power, are especially easily to access, although the lack of cover may lead to dust issues down the road. The hub measures roughly 7" x 2.5" and less than 1" high/thick. It performs well and exactly as advertised. A USB cable and a power supply pack are included.

But, oh, the power supply cable length. I have an executive-size desk, and if I put the hub under my computer screen, the 3-foot power cord won't even reach to the ground, let alone an outlet. Although the regular USB 3.0 ports can be powered by the computer for flash drives, I cannot use the two charging ports unless I plug the hub into an outlet. This means that I have to use yet another extension cord in my tangle of extension cords. If I wanted to use this for a laptop, I'd have to sit right on top of an outlet.

Once I solved the power supply issue with an extension cord, I came to really like this hub. Although it's lightweight, it lies flat on my desk even with cables sticking out of it, unlike many others. The design of the hub itself is wonderful. Note: I received a sample for review.
