5.0 out of 5 stars A must read for fathers
Most books that deal with ADD almost always exclude the concept of what dads go through in trying to come to terms with their ADD child. All too often books on ADD are more apt to put dads to sleep than to really give them a basis to understand what is going on with "that childhood terrorist" which roams the hallways of the homestead in search of dad's last...

3.0 out of 5 stars Cute, but not much meat
This ia cute book but seems aimed more at children than at fathers. I am not sure what the target demographic may be but I did not find it particularly useful either in understanding or adapting to the issues I face in having taken in a nephew with this condition.

I found this book to be entertaining, informative, and a book that you'll want to reread and to share with friends.

It isn't often you'll find a book in color for this price, but this one is a hoot to read and to look at.

I recommend it highly!

5.0 out of 5 stars UNDERSTANDING ADD, June 10, 2000
This review is from: A Dad's Nuts and Bolts Guide to Understanding Attention Deficit Disorder (Plastic Comb)
Having been personally touched by this dissorder, I was pleasantly surprised to find this book by Mark Jacob. I have a nephew and a friend both suffering from this condition for many years. I enjoyed the frankness and the flow of this book that gave me a better understanding of what I have been witnessing for the last 15 years. Recalling back all the situations I have witnessed over this time literally brought me to tears. These children when calm, are wonderful and bright. They deserve more than the system seems to be dishing them out. This book gave me greater insight into the problems of the people I love and hope that Mr. Jacob succeeds with his quest to help us understand ADD better. Thank you Mark for helping us. I look forward to the next addition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dad's Best Friend, April 5, 2000

Most books on this subject can be very long, detailed and quite complex. This book let's the parents, especially Dad, understand that they are not alone in this situation. It speaks to you! It is direct, funny and very helpful. Should be kept on the night table and used as a daily guide.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exceptionally Brilliant - and long overdue., April 4, 2000

This book is a genuine delight to read. It was written in simple language and is so very entertaining and informative. I can relate to so many of the issues and have really learned how I should be trying to resolve some of them. This book will help me to help others in my family deal with similar situations concerning my ADHD child.

I know this book is written especially for "DADS"; however, this "MOM" has also learned ALOT! Bravo for a job well done.

My wife gave me this book and though I was reluctant to read it, it has become my "bible". This IS a toolbox for life with an ADD child and I highly recommend it to all Dads (and Moms) of ADD children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mark Jacob Makes ADD So Easy To Understand, August 17, 2000

This review is from: A Dad's Nuts and Bolts Guide to Understanding Attention Deficit Disorder (Plastic Comb)
If it were possible for the author to move into my home and provide on the job training while I attempt to parent my ADD kid, it would be perfect. However this isn't a perfect world, and I have to settle for his book...the next best arrangement. This is truly the best book I have ever read on this subject. I laughed and cried. Mr. Jacob tells a story in a way that is just so different. If you are a Mom or a Dad or just a human with an interest in what it's like to raise a kid that truly marches to a different drummer...buy this book!
