Editorial Reviews

2 CD edition. Vintage Trouble is a new band from Los Angeles with an electrifying sound steeped in classic soul, blues and rock n roll. This unique musical force is the brotherhood of Ty Taylor (vocals), Nalle Colt (guitar), Rick Barrio Dill (bass) and Richard Danielson (drums). Singer Ty Taylor calls Vintage Trouble's music primitive soul. He says: It's raw, naked and hard-hitting music with the passion of late 50s soul/rhythm & blues and the pulse of early 60s rock n roll. The name Vintage Trouble comes from thoughts of Taylor's late father who lived the life of a bluesman. I come from Vintage Trouble look out if I m the one you found, I ll pop your bubble with my live-wired straight-shootin dirty mouth as the lyrics suggest from the song Blues Hand Me Down. The band formed just one year ago, on February 25, 2010. Key influences include Otis Redding and Led Zeppelin. Handled by legendary band manager Doc McGhee (Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, KISS, Guns N Roses and James Brown), Vintage Triouble are also booked by ITB worldwide (Aerosmith, Lenny Kravitz, Jamiroquai). Vintage Trouble is a band that truly comes alive onstage. We invite people to participate rather than just watch-we would rather it be a party than a performance says the band. We like to make the walls sweat. People come dressy and leave messy. Vintage Trouble is set to release their debut UK albujm on the 25th July 2011. From the juke-joint resonating debut single Nancy Lee to the hard hitting rythm of Blues Hand Me Down, to the provocative call to arms of Not Alright By Me to the soulful Nobody Told Me to the epic closer Run Outta You, the Bomb Shelter Sessions is packed with infectious melodies, timeless lyrics, raw guitars, and proper grooves the perfect soundtrack to the Summer. Consumate live performers, Vintage Trouble are at their vibrant best on stage. Fresh off a full UK tour with Brain May, the band are set to support Bon Jovi across Europe in 2011 and are set to make appearances at Hard Rock Calling and Wireless festivals amongst many others.

Like many others, I discovered these guys after watching "Later With Jools Holland". I decided to take a punt and try out the CD. It hasn't proved to be a disappointment - not a weak track on it. The incendiary "Blues Hand Me Down" and the more slow burning "Run Outta You" are like bookends to the disc, more rock oriented - Nalle pinching more than a couple of Jimmy Page guitar phrases and licks. There are slower more soulful tracks and tracks such as "Still And Always Will" along with "You Better Believe It" which are great call and response songs at a gig.

The whole act is undeniably retro, without once having the feel of it being a pastiche. The songs are all fresh, vibrant and sounding like nobody else on the scene at the moment. They call the music Rock'n'Soul, who am I to disagree?

It is the soundtrack to a great Saturday night out at that little club down the road, where you're always guaranteed a great night out

It's about time we have an amazing band and vocalist to hit the music industry. Vintage Trouble emanates soul rock with a bluesy swagger to perfection. This is the best band I've heard in a long time. Ty Taylor is an astonishing vocalist who knows how to deliver. Every song is a hit so, I'm giving this CD a 10 out of 10.

The variety in the modern take on these retro-flavored original tunes is fantastic. The band plays very well together for a clean and well-thought out sound that doesn't come across as over-processed. It's still gritty and down and dirty, just the way something vintage ought to be. But flawless at the same time. Ty Taylor's vocals range from blues, jazz, rock and soul effortlessly, and the lyrics are worth many repeat listenings. When I play this at the office, people always come in asking "who is that great sound?" Very danceable, but also melancholy.

The Who is a tough crowd, especially in LA. Saw "Vintage Trouble" open for "The Who" at the Honda Center and they had the crowd on their feet singing by the end of their set.

Very talented group, worth going to see for sure.

BTW, never had heard of them before last night and I don't impress easily. These guys are the real deal imho.

I'm generally not into "retro" type bands or anyone who is trying to revive the music of a bygone era. The first time I saw VT, though, I was knocked on my ass by the sheer will and determination of this quartet to get everyone in the room to share their joy. The band was tight but loose (think Humble Pie or Free); the singer (James Brown by way of Terrence Trent D'Arby?) was polished but spontaneous. The performance was undeniable and the energy was infectious. Saw them again at a bigger venue (opening for the Cranberries, of all people) and they managed to do it again. Sweat, soul, grooves and charisma just oozes from the stage. Can't recommend this live band enough.

Of course, I knew that listening to their record at home would be a different story. So often, bands like this don't capture their onstage magic in the studio. But I've been pleasantly surprised to find that the band's passion and energy has indeed imbued this LP; the songs, while certainly not ground-breaking, have a life and identity of their own, thanks to the sincerity and pathos the band infuse into the proceedings. High quality songwriting and absolutely expert execution. Just buy it.

I caught their opening act in Greenville, S.C., at The Who show, and wow! Such energy and talent from the lead singer, and the band has a constant grove. I downloaded this album and it absolutely reflects what I saw on the stage. I look forward to many more listens, and I only hope success can come to this very talented collection of individuals.
