The band members refer to it as their "Nashville album," but make no mistake about it: a fiddle here or a pedal steel guitar there won't change the fact that Lost Highway, performed in its entirety in this 2007 concert, is every inch a Bon Jovi record--not their best, perhaps, but one that is nevertheless extremely popular and embodies all of the veteran band's strengths. The setting here, a Chicago studio with a stage constructed specially for the occasion, is obviously more intimate than the humongous stadiums they fill on tour, but singer Jon Bon Jovi, guitarist Richie Sambora, and their mates (augmented here by four additional musicians) are still one of the ultimate arena bands, pumping out the kind of tunes that inspire the faithful to pump their fists during the guitar solos and sing joyfully along with the big, anthemic choruses that are a staple of the Bon Jovi repertoire. Lost Highway has plenty of those (cf. the title song, "Any Other Day," and "I Love this Town"), mixed in with ballads like "(You Want to) Make a Memory" and "Seat Next to You." These and other songs offer the kind of universal, if somewhat facile, sentiments (life's tough, we all feel alone sometimes, but when the chips are down I'll be there for you) summed up by Bon Jovi's comment about the songwriting process: "Our story becomes your story." Filmed in high definition and sporting excellent sound, the concert also features performances of "It's My Life," "Wanted Dead or Alive," and "Who Says You Can't Go Home." Brief interviews with Bon Jovi, Sambora, drummer Tico Torres, and keyboardist David Bryan are the principal bonus features. --Sam Graham

This advertizes that the Crosroad DVD comes with this concert DVD. That is the reason why I ordered it. This was false advertising there was no additional DVD of the Crossroads enclosed. I went thru the concert DVD, checked the specials, and bonus features and did not find it on the DVD. I won't buy from this seller again. I alread have the CD of this concert. I wanted the Crossroads DVD.

In 2007 Bon Jovi released Lost Highway. The album was about as close as the band got to a concept album in its 25 year recording history. Its country inspired tracks went straight to number one in many countries in the world. As a result of this the A&E network proposed a concert to celebrate the record. Filmed in a small Chicago studio the band plays the record in track by track order. The band seems to be enjoying the material and the crowd does as well. There are standout performances of Lost Highway, (You Want To) Make a Memory, We Got it Going On, and I Love This Town before the band plays a three song encore of It's My Life, Wanted Dead or Alive, and Who Says You Can't Go Home.

While this is not the concert that many fans had hoped for its a good edition to any collection and shows how an arena band can continue to grow and create after so many years. The most important special feature are brief backstage interview segments with the band.

I have been a Bon Jovi fan "forever". I just can't resist that sexy, cute innocent smile Jon has, it just makes me melt. I have seen them perform live many times. I even won a radio contest years ago for an "exclusive accustic" Up close and Personal Concert with Jon. It was so AWESOME, I will never forget it as long as I live. They gave away a very limited number of tickets, that's what made it so personal. I was sitting about 20 feet away from Jon. I was in such a state of AWE that I couldn't even move. I just sat their watching and listening to him sing, or just talk. It was like he was sitting in my living room visiting, and sharing stories you would never hear anywhere else. This band has been around and popular for over 25 years for a reason. They are super talented, dedicated, down to earth and after all these years they are still ROCKING EVERYONE around THE WORLD! This CD was number ONE all around the WORLD for a reason, if you don't have it, BUY it! Listen to the lyrics, they really mean a whole lot more if you've been keeping up with the latest on the band. A couple of the band members have or I should say had been going through some difficult times. This CD is like a therapy and sort of healing for them. If you understand this, then you know why this CD/DVD is one of their GREATEST yet.

...Crank Up the Volume. No longer living on his hair, Bon Jovi delivers a great live concert of the entire Lost Highway CD, along with three other encore songs from the past.

The 5.1 sound and the video transfer are excellent. The band is tight and Richie Sambora jams. I like the DVD version of Strangers Anymore better than the CD.

NOTE: The Wal-Mart DVD has an A&E Bon Jovi Biography 45 minutes +/-, not available elsewhere.

The DVD is highly recommended and deserves multiple viewings.

Enjoy, j.

This is a fantastic DVD! Well produced: crystal clear video and great surround sound 5.1! The band looks great. The thing that strikes me most is how much the emphasis of Bon Jovi is on the musical performance, not just the spectacle. Of course this venue differs very much from their well-known arena/stadium shows -- it's a very much more intimate setting and a much smaller audience. But I think, Jon Bon Jovi once very accurately said that it doesn't really matter whether the band performs for 50 or 50,000, they always give 200% in performance quality. It just really comes through on this DVD. The lyrics are beautiful and written by true poets. I think I read in another review that these guys have "more talent in their pinkies" than most of the sum total of the rest of us. So true! I highly recommend this to anybody still resisting the enchantment of this band!

It's simply a beautiful piece of work right from the soul... What's best is to hear each and every one of the Lost Highway songs... in the same order listed in the record, plus the classics "It's My Life", "Wanted Dead Or Alive", "Who Say's You Can't Go Home". Jon's voice (and smile=) keeps brilliant, as well as Richie's guitar, not to mention Tico's and David's performances. Probably the only thing that I missed was Leann Rimes singing along with Jon in "Till We're Not Strangers Anymore". But in all it's one brilliant piece of jewelry!

The Lost Highway Concert DVD is a great addition to any Bon Jovi fan's collection! I felt it was put together very well, has an intimate feel and really brings the album to life. There are great interviews with each band member in the special features and it was definitely worth the money. I will watch this one over and over!

I'll be straight up and say I can appreciate that they've tackled the challenge of an American country music album very well and done a great job, but I'll point out that I'm not a fan of American country music myself. Therefore after listening to it I was not a huge fan of the Lost Highway album CD and although watching a song being performed live can sometimes make you like it a bit more, I wasn't converted to like any Lost Highway songs to any higher degree by watching Bon Jovi perform them live on this DVD. Unfortunately that album's songs are really all that's on this DVD, Bon Jovi play them in the same order as the album and then play a couple of their better known songs at the end. This is when the Chicago crowd awakens from their slumber and act like a normal Bon Jovi concert crowd does.

The version of Wanted Dead or Alive is very good and the intro between Ritchie and Jon about his superman cape (hat) coming out is fairly interesting to watch. This and It's My Life are the only usual concert play list that they actually perform on this DVD. So if the normal Bon Jovi concert experience is what you want to watch, buy one of their other DVDs instead.

The Chicago crowd obviously either weren't Bon Jovi fans and instead just people who are friends of the promoters or publishers or something like this. They didn't know any of the songs until It's My Life which they'd obviously heard on the radio or something before, the crowd acted more like they were in church or something rather than at a concert. Either that or this concert must have happened before the actual album was released, and the crowd had been expecting the usual rock concert and were disappointed waiting song after song for the usual experience to begin.
