3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting start for one of the world's finest bands, August 30, 2000
This review is from: Bon Jovi (Audio CD)
Back in 1984, Bon Jovi released their debut album. The first track, Runaway, had already enjoyed success on the radio as a single. Still, it would be two more years and two more albums before the band really made it.

Runaway is the most notoriously famous song on this album, but She Don't Know Me also performed well at the time. However, by far the greatest song on the album - and one which would probably still work today if updated a little - is Shot Through The Heart. This song is not to be confused with the more famous You Give Love A Bad Name which opens with the line "Shot through the heart..."

Shot Through The Heart, on Bon Jovi, is all about the pain of breaking up, the tears and the mixed feelings of anger and regret. Jon's vocals sound like it was recorded when he was merely 21, but this is no bad thing.

Bon Jovi deserves a place on any true Bon Jovi fan's CD rack. The worrying thing about the modern industry is that this would be a much better investment for a buyer than most of what hits the charts today.

I rate it 3 stars because it is not THAT GOOD. But it stands up. Just remember that this was recorded back in the days when Jon's record company toed the line. Today, things are very different for Bon Jovi.
