5.0 out of 5 stars Easy, bullet-proof, and fabulous
This is the coffee maker I'd buy over and over... except that the one we have will never wear out, and we've used it daily for years now. Cleaning is no problem... the lid-with-plunger part pulls out and we rinse out the pot and rinse the plunger under running water, too (you can pull the mesh back to get at the grounds underneath just fine.) Both parts can be swished...

I started using French presses a few years ago and have owned several. I find them very versatile as I can also use them to make hot or cold tea at my desk. I started using French presses a few years ago and have owned several. I find them very versatile as I can also use them to make hot or cold tea at my desk. This item does keep your coffee and/or tea warm for a few hours. However, it does not unassemble to clean the mesh filter, making it difficult to clean especially in the case of tea. If you are only using coarse ground coffee, it works fine but you do still have a few grounds stuck in the mesh filter. I have really enjoyed the presses that were fully able to come apart, they are much easier to clean that way.

Also, if you have the spout twisted to the open part in the lid, remember to push the lever down slowly or the hot liquid comes gushing out. I do not recall this ever being an issue in other presses I owned.

Cleaning is no problem... the lid-with-plunger part pulls out and we rinse out the pot and rinse the plunger under running water, too (you can pull the mesh back to get at the grounds underneath just fine.) Both parts can be swished in soapy water every now and then as well, and that's quite sufficiently sanitary.

Though nominally an "8 cup" pot, we use big mugs and get 3-4 servings out per pot. 8 heaping spoons of course-ground coffee (freshly ground, if possible!) fill with water, and put lid on with plunger up. No stirring necessary. Wait a couple minutes then plunge. And it really will stay hot for hours. Makes Oh-my-gosh-GOOD coffee!! And as a Seattle girl, I should know...
