4.0 out of 5 stars Five episodes of Bonanza, valuable as historical record, June 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Bonanza - 5 Pack (DVD)
Bonanza is the famous television westernseries, set in the vicinity of Virginia City, Nevada, during the years of the Civil War, soon after the discovery of the fabulous Comstock Silver Lode. Bonanza is the saga of the Cartwrights, a prosperous family of ranchers. The stories relate their struggles for justice amidst violenc and lawlessness as they attempt to maintain and operate their timberland ranch, known as the Ponderosa Ranch. Many of these classics were produced in the early years of filmmaking. This means that primitive audio recording technique will be more noticeable in the DVD format, so will glitches in picture. These movies ("Desert Justice", "Badge Without Honor", "The Last Viking", "The Blood Line", "Silent Thunder") have been rescued from the film vaults in most cases and have not been restored. A pity is the missing well-known "Bonanza"-tune. Now all the episodes starts with a nasty kind of music. Nice to see all the famous characters back on the screen.

2.0 out of 5 stars Only one episode per disk?, June 10, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Bonanza - 5 Pack (DVD)
Why have only 5 episodes on 5 disks?I would have thought at least 2 or even 3 episodes would have been fair value for money. If the TV shoe "Friends" can put 8 half hour episodes on a disk, then shows like Bonanza should be able to do better than a pitiful one episode per disk.

1.0 out of 5 stars Great TV Show - Bad Transfer, April 4, 2001
This review is from: Bonanza - 5 Pack (DVD)
I quality of this set of DVD's is terrible. Sound moves from garbled to nonexistent. They removed the original theme music and the video is washed out.
