Same eps as 31-DVD set, March 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Bonanza (DVD)
These are good solid family episodes, but if you already own the 31-DVD set, you already have them: The Avenger. -- Last Trophy. -- Dark Star. -- Spitfire. -- Abduction. -- Courtship. -- Escape to the Ponderosa. -- The Ape. -- Blood on the Land. -- Badge Without Honor. -- The Hopefuls. -- Denver McKee. -- The Fear Merchants. -- Gunman. -- Bitter Water. -- The Mill. -- The Blood Line. -- Death at Dawn. -- Day of Reckoning. -- Desert Justice. 4 stars for being another release of the same eps we see over and over. Sure wish someone would put out the comedies like Woman of Fire, The Hayburner, Ponderosa Matador, Bank Run, The Wooing Of Abigail Jones, Hoss & the Leprechauns, Easter Bunny Crossing . . .

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...., July 11, 2004

This review is from: Bonanza (DVD)
These are among the usual assortment of episodes that are shown over and over on various cable and satellite channels. They are also among the only episodes avaialbe anywhere on DVD--those that were allowed to fall into the public domain. The quality of these presentations on this DVD is good with excellent clarity and good color. These have probably not been ditigally restored, but play as well as any you'll see on television today. These 20 episodes also DO have the opening titles with the original Ponderosa map burning and the original theme music, as well as the original closing credits. Nothing is missing or substituted on these DVD's. 20 episodes at this price makes this set a real bargain. One can only hope that whomever owns the copyright on the rest of the episodes decides to release then on DVD in the future. But considering that such popular western series as The Wild Wild West and Gunsmoke are not on DVD, don't hold your breathing waiting for more Bonanzas.
