"Why do I do what I don't want to do?" is a question that I hear often in counseling. There are always areas in people's lives over which they have little or no control. Often times their thoughts and emotions are overpowered by hatred, anger, lust, or depression. They may find themselves overcome by habits such as masturbation, drinking, drug abuse, cigarette smoking, or illicit sexual relationships. Or, perhaps it may be compulsive overeating, dieting, exercising, shopping, spending-or maybe lying, criticizing, or gossiping. Even simple things like fingernail biting or excessive talking can be unpleasant binding compulsions.
In this book, I offer simple, practical keys to break any bondages in your life and release you from the prison of controlling habits. You will discover root causes of those bondages and learn how to tear down strongholds in your life which ultimately releases you into the peace and joy that God intended for you to experience.
