Book Description

Book Six of Wicked Play

Pro hockey player Holden Hauke has kept his sexual needs buried for years. After a near miss over a picture of him bound to a spanking bench resulted in a mid-season trade, he's kept his image clean. But with the season over, he's ready to surrender control. And he's found just the woman to help him—if only he can convince her to give him a chance.

Bending men to her will is nothing new for Vanessa Delcour, aka Mistress V—she's a full-time rep for pro athletes, a part-time owner of exclusive sex club The Den, and an experienced Domme. But when Holden Hauke comes looking for a discreet partner, Vanessa's concerned about his motives. Touching his training-toned body during a scene wouldn't exactly be a hardship, but taking him on crosses barriers between work and play that she's had in place for years.

From their first intense encounter in Mistress V's playroom, Hauke knows he can't let this chance slip away; he's found the woman he's always needed. Submissive or not, he's willing to push her every limit to prove how good they can be together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another quality Wicked Play novel June 18, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Mistress V is far too serious, and Lynda Aicher has found the perfect match for her. Holden is a delectable hero, straightforward and balanced, just what Vanessa needs. Their play together is incredibly emotional, beyond hot, and the Domme/male sub perspectives are expressed really well. I love the way their relationship develops, sometimes beyond their control and other times stalled by fears. This push and pull, coupled with a great cast of characters, is what I have come to expect and enjoy in the Wicked Play series. Rock and Carter (book five) is still my favourite, but this one was not disappointing in the least, I loved it. Looking forward to Noah and Liv's story for sure. :)

Received an ARC for review.

Oh, Lynda Aicher does not disappoint. I've been so looking forward to Mistress V's story. Holden was absolutely perfect for her. We got to see all the rest of the Den peeps including a new baby. Now we have to wait till September for Noah's HEA and with her? very interesting. I wouldn't mind having a couple more stories with his teammates Walters and Grenich.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic read! July 27, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Holden has a need to be dominated--one that he has denied for too long. Although he accepts his need he doesn't want to shout it's still not something he can openly pursue because of his career. That's how he finds himself at The Den being interviewed by Mistress V.

Vanessa keeps a tight control on her life. She separates her Domme persona from her business one and not once has she let them collide. But there's something about Holden that pushes all her buttons and tests all the boundaries she has set for herself.

Once again, Lynda Aicher brings to the page a lust-filled, emotional tale of trust and acceptance.

I loved the characters, especially Holden. His submission was a beautiful thing to see and when paired with Vanessa's conflicted emotions it made their story a fantastic read.

I enjoyed Holden's acceptance of his needs and his easy and laid back personality. He was intense when it came to his desires but yet so understanding, open and caring when it came to Vanessa that I couldn't help but cheer him on in his pursuit of something more with her.

As for Vanessa, I have to say that I admired her strength of character. Her past and conflicted emotions were the one thing that kept me interested in the outcome of her story. I admit though, that there were times when I wanted to shake some sense into her, but eventually she came to realize that Holden was not only the perfect sub for her but the man she needed at her side.

Of course, their chemistry was off-the-charts hot. I enjoyed their scenes and the intensity in which they came together. And when emotions came into play? Ufff! Amazing!

Although Bonds of Courage is the sixth book in the Wicked Play series it can certainly be read as a stand alone. However, I recommend reading all the previous books since they all are a great addition to the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars 4, If it pleases you, Mistress. Stars! July 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
The Wicked Play Series continues with installment six, Mistress V's story. Vanessa is the top Domme and recent partner in The Den, but she never wanted her worlds to collide and not many got to see anything beyond the mask she wore as she played each part. Domme by night and sports PR agent by day, V's world is about to clash when hunky Holden's application makes it's way across her desk.

Holden just wants to play hockey, but when his battles to control his inner desires was lost - he had was traded teams. Still in need of finding a way to release his need and not draw attention to his private life, Holden finds him face to face with a woman that he knows can ruin his career with one phone call. Mistress V was everything he didn't know he was looking for. Suddenly his need to submit is felt deeper than ever before. But his submission is hers and hers alone to own.

Breaking through V's walls is not an easy task, but Holden is not the kind of man that gives up without a fight.

I have thoroughly enjoyed each of this books and although V was a more recently introduced character into the fold I was intrigued by the switch up in the D/s roles. I found that it was much easier to slip into this reversal than I originally thought. Holden, although quite submissive was still a very strong hero. He was protective of her and still held that possessive role even though he was bending to her will in the bedroom.

V's lack of trust was well rooted in her past and given the events as they play out, the lack of urgency to let herself feel more for Holden made perfect sense. Usually I get fed up with a heroine that is unwilling to follow her heart and face what she is feeling, with V - I was perfectly content that she had to go at her own pace.

5.0 out of 5 stars A rating... July 16, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
My Review:
This book featured two story tropes that I really enjoy...female Domme and professional sports figure.

Holden is a great character. As a professional hockey player, he has needs that just don't mesh with the needs for his identity as a pro NHL player. As a result, he's never truly explored those needs. But when he did, a photo leaked which led to him getting traded. He can't afford another slip, but he also is finding it harder and harder to ignore those needs. He hopes that the Den and it's very strict policies about privacy and membership will offer him an alternative. What he doesn't count on is that one of the owner is Vanessa, who is the ice queen of the sports PR world. And she doesn't take anything from anyone...certainly not a sports figure who she doesn't trust because she knows how they behave.

Vanessa is a really complex character...and I have to say I've only read a couple of the books from this series, but am finding that Lynda Aicher does an INCREDIBLE job creating complex characters like this...I love that angst and backstory. She's known as the ice queen for a reason. No one gets under her least not that they ever realize (she is still very human), but something is different with Holden from the very beginning. And that is a fact that Vanessa hates. She's a Domme...she doesn't do out of control...Ever!

Everything about this book just worked for me. I read it over a weekend full of family time and I hated it every time I had to put it down because the story was so good and riveting. Holden is confused and vulnerable. Vanessa is aggressive and vulnerable. Together they are incredibly hot and so freaking sexy. I loved their story and getting to know them.

More About the Author

Lynda Aicher has always loved to read. It's a simple fact that has been true since she discovered the worlds of Judy Blume at the age of ten. After years of weekly travel as a consultant implementing computer software into global companies, she ended her nomadic lifestyle to raise her two children. Now, her imagination is her only limitation on where she can go and her writing lets her escape from the daily duties of being a mom, wife, chauffeur, scheduler, cook, teacher, cleaner and mediator.
