Editorial Reviews

Deluxe two CD edition includes a bonus CD containing an additional seven tracks. 2012 sophomore release from the Jazz great. Bone Appetit plays like a modern-day version of the seminal album by Quincy Jones - The Dude, with Jeff serving as maestro while both singing and playing his horn. Guest artists include Marsha Abrosius who joins Jeff on the lead single "Got Til It's Gone," Raheem DeVaughn turns up the heat on "Til Tomorrow," Coko from SWV fuels the spirit with the inspirational "So Thankful," and Kindred The Family Soul represent with "All Day Loving" and a solo turn by Fatin Dantzler on a decidedly jazzy version of Mos Def's Hip Hop classic, "Umi Says."

Jeff Bradshaw is an amazing trombonist and Bone Appetit is a must have album for people who appreciate musicianship. Bradshaw takes Tony! Toni! Toné!'s Lay Your Head On My Pillow, & brings it to another level with the melodic sounds of his trombone. His collaborations with artists Raheem DeVaughn, Marsha Ambrosious, & Coko from SWV are outstanding, and that's just the first course. For your second course Bradshaw's band Brass Heaven kick starts it with a funky go-go infused track titled "Steppin' Out". If you appreciate great musicianship with live instruments, without the studio enhanced auto-tuned garbage, Bone Appetit is a must have album for you.

Jeff has outdone himself this time around. I've been blessed to know this young man and experienced his talent long before the world knew who he was. What a blessing to able to share and spread the love of this music. You must see and feel this in concert......homeslice knows how to play that trombone and serve up some real love to the audience. When he shows up in your town make your way to experience that bone!! love this man to life

Jeff is a Hidden Beach artist and I'm a big fan of Hidden Beach artists, even with Jilly no longer on the label. I have Jeff's first CD Bone Deep, which I luv. So when I saw Bone Appetit, picking this up was a no brainer. Bone Appetit is better than his first album, no sophomore jinx here! Commercially speaking, Jeff is truly underrated. Jeff reminds me of jazz trombonist Wayne Henderson of the Crusaders, yes JB is that good! Hopefully, Hidden Beach doesn't let another undervalued artist slip out of the nest, ala Darius Rucker. Back to Bone Appetit, Jeff has a little something for everyone on this project. My favorite cut is his cover of Miss Jackson's, "Got Til It's Gone" feat. Marsha Ambrosius. On Bone Apetit he managed to weave together sounds of R&B, Hip Hop, Neo Soul, both smooth and straight jazz into one cohesive project, AMAZING!!!

Father's Day was approaching and I needed a gift for my father and husband. Both of them love music, however my father is very hard to please. No matter how good I think the music is he may only like one cut off any given CD. My dad is in his 80's and like blues, but my husband loves jazz. Not knowing anything about Jeff Bradshaw, I went out on the limb and bought BoneAppe'tit for my husband and one for my dad after hearing about him on WFSK Fisk University's mellow jazz station. And Wow, did I do good or what? Yeah!!! My dad loves every tune on the 2 disc CD and so does my husband. It's mellow. Good listening, relaxing music. Now I need to purchase another one for my own personal collection. (rlfj)

If you are looking for music that features the trombone don't buy this set. There is very little solo or feature space for the Trb player and what little you hear is only average, Save your money. Only one tune from the two disc set lived up to the hype. There were some nicely voiced brass figures on disc two but they came too little too late to save this collection. This should in no way be labled as "Smooth Jazz". Too much monotone singing, talking, smoozing, and effects that contributed nothing. Poor

I freaking love this album. When I'm not listening to it, it still plays in my head and i'm humming the tunes. I listen from start to finish and I don't skip one tune. Kudos to the artist!

LOVE...LOVE...LOVE IT...bonus cd is my favorite....get this cd...it's great to hear a variety of artists blend to create such marvelous sounds...Jeff Bradshaw did such a thing... I'm just getting into his music, but I always love jazz...he keeps the integrity of what a true jazz artist and music is all about, wrapped up on a newer packaged. If you can appreciate good music, this is one to add to your collection

Jeff Bradshaw's, BONE APPETITE is truly a fine piece of musicianship! Bradshaw's skills as a seasoned trombonist are tuned to perfection, the musical arrangements are smooth, and the various musical guests all blend together beautifully, to deliver a delicious main course of well harmonized artistry. If you're a fan of contemporary jazz, you must add this one to your collection!
