Editorial Reviews

Review

"Although the text is American based, Bone Densitometry for Technologists would be useful for Canadian technologists certifying in the field of bone densitometry or for those interested in learning more about a related medical radiation technology modality. It would also be an excellent reference text for libraries and medical radiation technology education programs." -The Canadian Journal of Medical Radiation Technology

From the Back Cover

Continuing the excellent reputation of the first edition, leading densitometry experts Sydney Lou Bonnick, MD, FACP, and Lori Ann Lewis, MRT, CDT, have updated and expanded Bone Densitometry for Technologists to reflect the latest standards and developments in the field. Here radiologic technologists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and dedicated densitometry technologists can find new guidelines for bone density testing, new therapies for osteoporosis, and new treatment guidelines for osteoporosis, as well as new chapters on pediatric densitometry body composition assessments, and the use of skeletal morphometry in diagnosis and fracture risk prediction. The twelve appendices have also been updated to reflect the most current information available, including contacts for densitometry equipment manufacturers and organizations, guidelines for bone density testing and CPT codes, definitions of terms, and new conversion equations. A companion CD contains the Precision Calculator Companion for automatically calculating the short-term precision and least significant change values for a facility, and the statistical confidence level for any change in BMD, all of which are indispensable in the interpretation of serial bone density studies. In addition, a new continuing education test will allow, upon successful completion, 17 hours of Category A American Society of Radiologic Technologists' credit. Comprehensive and informative, Bone Densitometry for Technologists, Second Edition provides all of the practical knowledge needed to expertly and professionally operate any of today's sophisticated densitometry machines.

Hard to understand and very technical.

The only thing that was not to my satisfaction is that there is a 10 ce A in the back of the book the expired a year ago, so you won't get credit for this book!
Cynthia Delatorre
Boring book - but there is not much out there on the topic.

This book is terrific for the QA portion of the boards. The book is easy to understand and follow. I would recommend this book if you are considering taking the registry for bone density.

I bought this book to help me study for the ARRT Bone Densitometry test. This was my sole source of information. The book itself is not very well orginized and is overly technical when it doesn't need to be. Rather boring, but hey, it is rather boring material anyway. I passed the test, so I suppose it was woth getting. All in all, not a great book, but it gets the job done.

This book was an excellent tool to pass the ARRT Done Densitometry registry. It was a little too wordy and boring, but it gave all the information that was needed for the test.

I read through this book twice and passed my ARRT bone densitometry exam without any trouble. I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to obtain their bone densitometry registry.

I bought the book to study for the ARRT bone density test. Only book I could find. Hard to understand and very technical. Took the post test in the back of the book and had hoped to get an answer key, so I could use it as a study guide. Only received a certificate showing I passed the test. Was told they couldn't give me the answers. Hopefully I can find more study material elsewhere.

This book seems to be everything that might be needed to pass the Bone Densitometry registry. The only thing that was not to my satisfaction is that there is a 10 ce A in the back of the book the expired a year ago, so you won't get credit for this book!
