From the Back Cover

P.I. work comes at a price for Sarah Booth Delaney in her latest adventure in Carolyn Haines’s award-winning mystery series.

A porn-star-turned-psychic has made a business of reuniting grieving relatives with their dearly departed and it’s up to detective Sarah Booth to find out…why? Her claim to beyond-the-grave fame aside, there’s something suspicious about medium Sherry Westin, since all of her clients happen to be Southern billionaires. Is she preying on the emotionally vulnerable for profit? Or is something far more sinister in store?

“A happy romp filled with colorful characters.”—Houston Press

Take Marjorie Littlefield. Sarah Booth is convinced that Sherry is scheming to steal away Marjorie’s fortune from her sole heir: a cat. Soon Sarah Booth is on the case, posing as a maid at Marjorie’s estate. Between chores, she searches for clues of psychic manipulation, mingles with the other staff, and, lo and behold, finds a few dead bodies. With spooks and charlatans around every corner, which guest or staff member might be the killer? Even Jitty, Sarah Booth’s personal haint, won’t tell until Sarah Booth has uncovered all of Sherry’s well-kept secrets. Before it’s too late…

“Stephanie Plum meets the Ya-Ya Sisterhood!”

Kudos to Carolyn Haines! Number 12 in the BONES series is a funny, fast paced and extremely well written book. Sarah Booth (posing as a maid, bless her heart!) and Tinkie are up to their lovely necks with charlatans, flim flam artists, spirits and oddball characters of all description in beautiful Vickburg, MS. And, need I say that Oscar and Graf are NOT happy about it? I'm delighted to see that Harold Erkwell and Roscoe have returned. Roscoe is my favorite Haines character and he is laugh out loud funny! If you haven't read the others in the series, no problem. Miss Haines skillfully introduces the characters in each book so that they are equally enjoyable as stand alone reading. So, pour yourself a tall glass of sweet ice tea, get cozy in that white wicker rocker on the veranda and enjoy! That's what I did.

The latest book from Carolyn Haines, Bonefire of the Vanities: A Sarah Booth Delaney Mystery, is a sure fire hit! Ms. Haines writes in such a way that makes you care for her characters and the town that they live in. As the 12th book in this series she has not let her loyal fan base down. Sarah Booth and Tinkie are true to form and even more hysterical with their southern girl charm and quick wits. Seriously, you will not want to put this book down (and you more than likely will run out and buy the rest of the books in the series). In fact, get it today and join the rest of the "Bone Gang" in the wonderful world that Carolyn Haines has created through the Sarah Booth Delaney series.

If you haven't read any of the Sarah Booth ("bones") books, I highly recommend all 12. This latest installment was wonderful. The last book left us at a cliffhanger about Sarah Booth's relationship status, which really had me worried. As you read these books, you become friends with the characters because they are so realistic and fun to be around. I would love to meet Sarah Booth, Tinkie, or even Jitty. Well, things didn't start off on a good foot for her relationship with Graf in this book, either. He was a little upset with her over the danger of her career. Tinkie's husband, Oscar, was pretty much in agreement. But, PI work is in their blood, so we're off on another marvelous adventure, full of danger, excitement, and lots of fun. It was a relief to find out how the relationships worked out, as well as a nice surprise. I am not a big fan of cats in general, but I loved Pluto. He stole many scenes in the book, and even managed to get me to like him. I think that one of the best parts of the series is seeing how the women, including Cece, are so different, yet manage to have honest friendships where they accept both the good and bad parts of each other and even come to appreciate the very things that they didn't like about the others. It really makes you want to go to Zinnia and stay a while. If you are looking for a fast-paced, fun mystery, this series is definitely for you!

This series is getting better, more solid and interesting murders, better characters, and the Romance is picking up. A bit of something for everyone. There was also a political stream running throughout the book, but not enough to bother the storyline, in fact it added to it.

The humor. Oh the humor. I was laughing my head off on pages 260 thru 262. I had been caught by a good argument on pages 51 and page 262. I would tell you why, but, then you might not take the effort to find out for yourselves and then what a mistake that would be.

Sarah Booth Delaney and Tinkie Bellcase Richmond are asked by their friend and psychic, Tammy Odom to look into one of her client's newest ideas. Tammy is getting scary dreams of her client's safety. Tammy also feels there might be a scam of some sort going on.

Sarah and Tinkie are still in a bit of trouble with their menfolk for being in such a dangerous job. What can going undercover for a couple of days hurt?

Plenty, it turns out. Armed guards, con artists, greed and more fill this house and Sarah Booth and Tinkie must use all of their talents, help from friends, and new 'guard pets' to get them safely back to Zinnia, Mississippi.

This was a terrific read and my only complaint is that I finished it so quickly and easily. Carolyn Haines is one of the best mystery Authors.

Carolyn Haines books are always entertaining and hard to put down. This one is no exception. I found it a little different than her usual Sarah Booth Delaney books, but neverless I really liked it. Her characters and story line are always fun and yet serious with an underlying mystery. I watch for her books to be released, knowing reading it will be an interesting few hours. These are books that you can start the series in the beginning, or in the middle. So if you buy the latest and are new to her books, you can go back and start anywhere ,and not feel lost.

What a wonderfully written and fun book. There isn't a better way to enjoy characters that I have come to love then catching up with the exploits of Sarah Booth and Tinkie in one of Carolyn Haines' books. I hope all mystery lovers buy this book and tell their friends.
