These were the first ceramic bearings I've ever purchased. They were costly but worth every penny. They are fast right out of the box. They are smooth as well and it feels almost like there's no friction at all between the bearing and the wheels. Since they are ceramic there is no metallic dust so servicing them is less of a chore. Wonderful investment. It is very likely that I may get new skates in the future but the bearings will last me a life time.
