5.0 out of 5 stars Could it have been any better?, March 31, 2009

Kerri T. "Shop when I Must" (Oxford, Mississippi United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
No! This book is an outstanding book in an outstanding series. The Bones of Makaidos is a fitting end to the best series of books I have ever read! If you have read any of the books in the Dragons in our Midst or Oracles of Fire series this one is a MUST read. While I read I felt like I was in the story itself, crying with them, laughing with them, fighting with them. In the ultimate battle of good vs. evil I felt joy at surprise reunions and sadness over the loss of loved ones. In the end I was left with a happiness that can only come from experiencing God at work in this world of ours. The Bones of Makaidos provides a Happily-Ever-After ending that is like no other and will leave you, as the reader, longing for an adventure like this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best of all!!!, March 18, 2009
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
This book is amazing. Words can't describe. I've cried more in this book than the other 7 put together - some were tears of sadness, but most have been tears of joy. Each time you read it it'll be just as powerful as the first time, if not more. It was really cool discovering what an oracle of fire really is, and why Bonnie's last name is Silver. All loose ends will be tied, and when you read the last page, you'll be left with a sense of satisfaction, a sense of peace that's hard to describe.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Wait!, June 3, 2009
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
I had been waiting for this book for a long time, and I got it the day it came out. I read half of it in a day because it was so exciting! "The Bones of Makaidos" answeres questions from the previous books and wraps up the series. But I think it would be cool to see Bryan Davis write another series after this one! You will definitely not want to miss this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars An adrenalin laced epic, and stunning conclusion that is sure to be timeless., December 29, 2011
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
The Bones of Makaidos is a stunning epic, and my favorite of all the books. Are Heroes have been training for four long years to meet the enemies army that seeks to destroy Second Eden. Are heroes have all grown up faster in Second Eden, and Bonnie and Sapphira find themselves in a realm that they never knew existed, the lowest realm of all The Valley of Souls, where these souls await resurrection to life, and the only way to get out alive is to be consumed by fire. Sapphira and Bonnie under go training themselves to be able to fight in Second Eden. But what everyone doesn't know is that the army that's coming isn't coming just to attack Second Eden, but Heaven it's self. A must read adrenalin pumping epic. A read of sacrifice, love, romance, forgiveness, and a passion and obedience to do whatever is asked of them even if it means death. A must read story in a must read series, that never disappoints no matter how many times you read it, an epic stunning conclusion to the Oracles of Fire series. What you thought was the end of the world of our heroes was only the beginning. There's third new and exciting series called Children of the Bard you can find book 1 Song of the Ovulum, and be reunited with Billy and Bonnie and meet there children in a new epic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Improved, July 6, 2011
By
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
I consider Bryan Davis' books to be very complex and sometimes altogether confusing. This does not always work out for the better, but in the case of Bones of Makaidos, it worked out fantastically! Everything comes through in the end; every pressing conflict is resolved and temporary peace seems to have been attained. Something that set this book apart from the most of the series is the passage of time. At one point in the book, about four years are skipped. Looking back, I could not really say at which point it was; it was quite abrupt and surprising. This book shows the characters' trust in God, or lack thereof, very well. When, in Eye of the Oracle, Davis shows the passage of time, Sapphira doesn't age physically or even mentally quite so much. What sets this book apart from every other book in this series is the mental and physical improvement of the characters. This is very real and challenges us to be like them: having faith in God and following Him through whatever He sets out for us. This 674-page book earns five stars!

5.0 out of 5 stars You Will Not Be The Same, January 13, 2011
This is a beautiful book. It is the first book on my shelf and I always know exactly where it is. It is a jewel, a treasure, that you won't want to miss out on. Bryan Davis never ceases to amaze me with his stories. He has proven, with Bones of Makaidos especially, that his books can make you cry, leap for joy, and laugh your head off! I'm the last to review so far, and I highly doubt many will read my "two cents". But if you do, take my word for it... You will not be the same after reading this book. Truly a satisfying ending to a truly magnificent series!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Ending, October 31, 2010
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
The Bones of Makaidos may be my favorite book of all time. It is full of epic battles, a touching romance, fiery trials, and the answer to the questions of many: What is an Oracle of Fire? The beautiful wedding reveals the benefits of purity, as the virgin bride and child of doubt come before the alter to join hands in marriage. Friends separated by time, distance, and even different dimensions are reunited. It offered a magnificent conclusion, with a "Happily Ever After" feel, yet emitted a bit of mystery, leaving room for a few more adventures. I was in tears by the end of the book, missing those characters who sacrificed their life along the journey of eight books, and so entirely happy for those characters who had kept the faith despite the trials and struggles they went through. Bryan Davis has created a wonderful, amazing, and all around beautiful story. He has helped me learn to become an Oracle of Fire. I highly recommend you continue the adventure of our beloved characters in this spectacular book.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Stunning Conclusion!, October 29, 2010
The Bones of Makaidos won the 2010 Clive Staples Award for Christian Speculative Fiction, and it definitely deserves the hype! This fast-paced conclusion to the Oracles of Fire series is quite honestly my favorite of Bryan Davis's books. It's masterfully written, and the pages flew by at a breakneck pace! I couldn't wait to find out what happens! It's been amazing to journey with these characters through their trials and adventures, and this book brings those adventures to a stunning, exciting, and inspiring conclusion. I'm not ashamed to say that the ending brought me to tears! This book alone makes reading the Dragons In Our Midst and Oracles of Fire series well worthwhile.

5.0 out of 5 stars The perfect finale, October 9, 2010
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
Usually the final books in a series are not my favorites; I read them because I want to know what happens to my friends (the characters) but I don't enjoy them the same way I do the other books because I know when I get to the end there will be no more. This was not the case with The Bones of Makaidos. Somehow Bryan Davis managed to end the series is the perfect way, wrapping up all the story lines and characters in a very satisfactory way. Instead of leaving me sad it left me happy and hopeful. I won't say anymore you just have to read it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Book Ever!, October 1, 2010
This review is from: The Bones of Makaidos (Oracles of Fire) (Paperback)
The Bones of Makaidos is definitely a great ending to the awesome series. If you've read the other books in the series', (DIOM and OOF) (I highly suggest you do before reading this book.) then you already know just how excellent this book will be, I sure do. I could so easily relate to the characters, feel what they felt, and see what they saw. Bryan Davis has created a masterpiece with not only this book, but all the others in the series as well. I urge you to quickly get a copy of this brilliant work of art. (P.S. Bryan Davis is writing another series to continue this one!)
