mediocre soundtrack,
By
This review is from: Bones - Original Motion Picture Houndtrack (Audio CD)
Snoop puts together a soundtrack that actually does go along with the movie(not to common) but it does not have too many high points. Most of the songs on here are mediocre if best and this was at a point when Snoop was constantly putting out below par rhymes and production on everything that had his touch on it. He is featured on about half of the songs and has a lot of songs from fellow Long Beach rappers and a few R&B songs on it that are well below par as well.
#2 - 7 (Snoop, RBX, MC Ren) #3 - 7 (Lost Angels & kokane) #4 - 2 (LaToiya Williams (R&B)) #5 - 8 (Snoop Dogg) #6 - 5 (Kedrick f/ CPO the Boss Hog) #7 - 7.5 (Kurupt f/ Roscoe) #8 - 6 (Kokane) #9 - 9 (Eminem, Proof, Swifty, Bizarre {of D12}) #10 - 8.5 (Snoop Dogg, Bad Azz, Chan & Cognac of Doggy's Angels) #11 - 8 (Snoop Dogg, Goldie Loc, Tray Deee {Tha Eastsidaz} & Kola of Doggy's Angels) #12 - 8.5 (Tray Deee, Kurupt, Xzibit) #13 - 7.5 (Soopafly & Snoop Dogg) #14 - 3 (William DeVaughn) #15 - 8 (FT) #16 - 7.5 (Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg, Butch Cassidy) #17 - 8 (Cypress Hill) #19 - 5.5 (Outkast & Snoop Dogg) P.S. ---- Check out all of my reviews

Not as good as I expected..,

I love the West Coast. I love Snoop, Nate, Kurupt, Tha Eastsidaz, all of em on this CD (except for D12, and Tha Angel's arn't that good ethier). But I felt like this CD was a dissapointment. It was on Snoop's label, Dogghouse, and saw the roster, so I picked it up. I was dissapointed alot. It's decent, but nothing ground breaking. Snoop is doing to much.. he needs to take a break for a little while and get those creative juice flowing better again. The production isn't that good ethier. Though I have to admit that it's a pretty good idea to have the soundtrack of the movie, actually have something to do with the movie than just background music. But it was poorly excuted. I don't really plan on seeing this movie anyways, but that's really because I'm not a horror flim fan. I'm looking real foward to "The Wash" with Dre, hopefully the soundtrack will be pretty good too. Anyways, still got mad love for Snoop and all them. West Coast -- Southern Cal-i-fornia 4 eva!

Great Soundtrack for a Great Movie,
By
This review is from: Bones - Original Motion Picture Houndtrack (Audio CD)
The Bones soundtrack is fantastic. Snoop Dogg put together a great blend of music for this conceptual album. Aside from Snoop Dogg; Kurupt, MC Ren, XZIBIT, D-12, Latoya Williams, Kokane, Doggy's Angels, Bad Azz, Eastsidaz, and more make appearances on the compilation. The CD is one of the most innovative titles of the year and is worth the cash.

Great Concept album,

This review is from: Bones - Original Motion Picture Houndtrack (Audio CD)
The Bones Soundtrack is great. Plus, for once, a movie soundtrack that actually has something to do with the movie. The majority of the songs deal with the Jimmy Bones character. The Jimmy Bones theme gets a little bit played out, but for the most part the album is refreshing and a fun listen. Aside from Snoop Dogg; Eminem/D-12, Eastsidaz, XZibit, Kurupt, Roscoe, Kokane, Doggys Angels, Bad Azz, Butch Cassidy, and Nate Dogg all play a role in the soundtrack. This album is unique, but a welcomed change in the Sountrack/Rap genre. Definitely worth checking out.

The Bones soundtrack has the same theme as the movie. The music also reflects the tone of the movie. The beats are dark, the rhymes are grimey hardcore lyrics. There is no sunny G-Funk on this cd. That is either good or bad depending on your taste. Snoop Dogg is at his best lyrically on this cd as well and his flow is untouchable. The usual Dogghouse members make they appearances such as Kokane, Tray Dee, Kurupt, Roscoe, Xzibit, Doggy's Angels, Xzibit, Nate Dogg, Bad Azz and Butch Cassidy. Production is handled by Battlecat, Fred Wreck, Soopafly, Warren G and Earthtone III. The Cd starts off with the Birth Of Jimmy Bones which is Snoop talking over a nice backdrop that is pretty soulful. D12 make another Dogghouse Soundtrack contribution and again deliver a tight song called These Drugs. Latoiya Williams blows the spot once again on Ballad Of Jimmy Bones. This woman needs a SOLO ALBUM! It needs to be done as quickly as possible. She is truly an outstanding singer and this is your chance to checc her out. Dogg Named Snoop with Tray Dee is hardcore. Death Of Snow White is another banging track with a memorable chorus which features two members of Doggy's Angels; Chan and Coniyac. The funkiest track on the album is produced by Warren G entitled If You Came Here To Party. This song is really moving and Snoop and Tha Eastsidaz rip this one up cipher style pass da mic. This song is the best hip hop track on the whole album. Jimmy's Revenge is a nice laid back ben-one track. This cd hits old school style with William DeVaughn's Be Thankful which is tied with Ballad Of Jimmy Bones for best R&B song on the album. A New cat by the name of FT comes in and rips up his track and is pretty good. Ill be checcin for more from him. Cypress Hill churns out a their usual highness blunted sound. The highlight of the album though has to be the rare bonus track of Outkast and Snoop Dogg remix of So Fresh So Clean. It first appeared to the world on the And 1 Mixtape Vol. 4 and it was a straight classic. This cd is very consistent and keeps an ongoing theme through it. Minor problems aside like half the tracks entitled Jimmy something, and Kurupt and Roscoe It's Jimmy, (The third time this year someone has a chorus The J The I The M the M The Y etc.) this cd is one of the best soundtracks of the year. It is easily better than the Wash soundtrack too. If you like Snoop then you will love this cd.

Snoop keeps lettin me down,
By Jacob Hanks (Ka0TicOn3) - See all my reviews

This CD was a let down after I finished listening to it. The best tracks are ones without Snoop. There are around four good ones. Man, I'm getting tired of Snoop's [not good] monotonous production and generic beats. Don't get me wrong, everyone else who ryhmes on this disaster is dope and credible. If they don't have the tools to work with than what can be expected. Snoop only shines on Dre's cuts, well because the instrumental is so off the hook that you can stand Snoop! When I was a teenager Doggystyle was the dope and is now a classic. What happened to that Snoop? For real, unless you are a hardcore snoop fan you might want to reconsider this album. Why do I keep buying Snoop CD's?!?

'Bones' confirms Snoop's strength as an executive producer. He is right up there with Dre and Puff Daddy. This is an outstanding album, with both variety and continuity, every song is good. It is unlikely that anyone else could put together a soundtrack that stands alone as an album to rival any other west coast album. Snoop has the very best west coast producers (Fredwreck, Battlecat, Meech Wells) and rappers (Tha Eastsidaz, Kurupt, RBX, Kokane, Nate, MC Ren, Xzibit, Butch Cassidy, Sugarfree, Supafly etc.) at his disposal. Dogghouse Records is the new Death Row, only better.
