My kids are 8 and 10, and they are both obsessed with Bones Rock! They love it for the awesome photos and the tips about learning to be paleontologists. I love it because they are learning the scientific method without even realizing it. I'm a teacher and I think this is one of the best classroom tools I've come across in a long time. Wow!

This is a serious book for kids who are interested in paleontology. My son has devoured all the basic dinosaur books for kids, so this was good for going a step further. One great feature is the bibliography at the back; they suggest books to read, places to visit, classes to take, and even colleges to attend for paleontology, for those who want to work towards a career. Very inspirational.

Well-written and illustrated book that will appeal to children who have an interest in rocks, and may be thinking of becoming a paleontologist.

I bought this for my 6 year old daughter who, despite being surrounded by many other birthday presents, only wanted to look through this book. I have purchased several like-themed book (including the fossil factory), and this one is by far THE BEST! It is full color, covers so many topics, and holds her interest for as long as I let her look at the book (sorry, but a kid needs to eat occasionally!). Highly recommended for the budding paleontologist in your life.

As a natural science teacher, I am always looking for enrichment materials for my students. This is, by far, the best book I've found for children who are interested in paleontology, and for teachers looking for simple, sound, and helpful descriptions of paleontological principals.

The book is well written, easy to follow and (nicely) edited with the input of children. All of the topics covered from fossil discovery to lab preparation are addressed in a way that answers the questions kids really want to know about, in a language they can understand.

The website that accompanies the book is very helpful as well, and is managed by one of the avid junior paleontologists ( who was about 14 years old at the time of publication.)

Every school that is interested is addressing paleo in their classrooms would do well to have a copy of this book in their library.

I purchased this book for my 6 yr old daughter who says she wants to be a paleontologist. Peter Larson was going to be speaking at a local museum during their fossil fair. I wanted my daughter to have a book for him to sign and to read up on him and what he does so that she could ask him questions. She LOVES this book! I find it very interesting as well, so it is something that we enjoy reading and learning with together. There is alot of information and the pictures are fabulous!

I purchased this book a while ago for my 10 year old daughter when she was interested in dinosaurs. Now my 7 year old son is reading it and is enjoying it quite a bit. The writing style is entertaining and keeps your attention, but the books is filled with all kinds of useful information for anyone even remotely interested in fossils.

My 9yo got this when she was 8. She has wanted to be a paleontologist since she was about 5, and this book is dog-eared from reading it. It has held her attention well.

This is a GREAT book. My son loves it and it's very good for young people who are interested in the field of paleontology.

I purchased this book for my friends 9 year old daughter who really impressed me when she said she wanted to be a paleontologist. The majority of photos in the book showed "boys" not girls exploring the animal bones. This confused her and thought maybe this was a career option only for boys. Times are changing authors - let's write to ALL audiences out there!! *Note the author of the book was "male".
