This recording dazzled me from the moment I received it. One of the greatest aspects is the rhythm section. They always keep a reliable beat going, one that you would tap your foot to, and never fail the bones.

Also, the bones themselves are phenomenal, especially on Institute. The improvisations on this CD are gems. Both trombonists are masters of their crafts - no other way around it.

This is a must-have CD. Many other bone associates of mine agree with me that this CD is essential to any collection. The songs are all nice and flow well. The added bonus is the improvisation. I haven't met anyone who didn't admire the work of the Trombonists. They are proteges of the jazz world, and it would be wrong not to support them. Go out and but this CD now.

Wow! What an unlikely pair: 2 trombonists together on a CD. The 2 make a powerful statement both showing off their great skills! Musicians-Joey Calderazzo-piano; John Patotucci-bass; Will Kennedy-drums. If you like this CD, check out some other music by Michael Davis & Special Edition by Bill Reichenbach. ( The latter recording is very rare & hardly around anymore.) Also, Check out Imprint by John Patitucci.

I have our local jazz station to thank for introducing me to the jazz of Michael Davis. The rifts are are a real joy to listen to; Bonetown is really a kick! Listen and you'll be a fan too!
