Brilliant arranger/composer Jim McNeely, and two associates from his Illinois school days, Kelly Sill & Joel Spencer, have gotten together and made a really nice piano trio CD.
It's a set of some familiar standards reworked slightly by McNeely's twisted imagination, and three originals. Well recorded, unpretentious, and fresh, this stands a cut above most jazz trio CDs.
