3.0 out of 5 stars Very Small Book, August 4, 2010

This review is from: Bongani (Hardcover)
The book's pages are roughly 5"x5" and the inside photographs are smaller. Great subject matter and photographs, but you better get out a magnifying glass.

4.0 out of 5 stars Leonard Zett and Bongani, November 19, 2011
By
This review is from: Bongani (Hardcover)
Leonard Zett is a photographer who focuses his artistic attention of the human form. This small (5" X 5") book dates from 2008 when Zett was just beginning a series of studies that would seal his position as a photographer of note. He concentrates on African American men, producing a large number of sensual portfolios of various emphases. This particular book - BONGANI - uses on one model, a very fit and physically perfect young South African athlete who managed to provide Zett with enough visual ideas to comprise and entire book.

The images are small but powerful, ranging from repose (as the image of the book's cover) to athletic prowess to frankly erotic poses. The quality of the photography is excellent and there appears to be a strong communication between the model and the artist - the result being a brief by seductive monograph on the many poses and situations Zett and Bongani agreed upon. The images are in both color and black and white, but it is the black and white images that are the most artistic and successful. This affordable book is a fine introduction to the art of Leonard Zett. Grady Harp, November 11
