Product Description

We believe fogging to be an extremely effective method of pest control. That’s why we have developed the FOG Rx line of thermal foggers. When used in conjunction with Bonide Mosquito Beater, Bug Beater and /or Fly Beater Barn and Stable Insecticide Fogs, our FOG Rx machines produce dense fog that permeate foliage, cracks, crevices and other hiding places, quickly collapsing insect populations, leaving a safe, pest free environment for people, pets, plants and livestock---without pesticide residue.

From the Manufacturer

Rid your yard of mosquitoes and other insects with the bonide propane outdoor insect fogger. This insect fogger is made of durable nylon and features a translucent bowl to allow you to see any unused insecticide. The easy trigger action dispenses microscopic particles that disappear quickly, leaving no active residue. It produces a dense fog that permeates foliage, cracks, crevices and other hiding places, collapsing insect populations and leaving a safe, pest free environment. The self starting ignitor switch creates a spark that lights the heater coil, generating the heat necessary to create the fog. Simply fill with a product designed for thermal fogging, such as bonide mosquito beater flying insect fog to clear areas of flying insects for hours. This portable and lightweight insect fogger is effective on mosquitoes, flies, gnats and moths and can be used at picnics, outdoor events, camp sites and for gardening treatments. Protect your family and landscaping from annoying pests with the bonide propane outdoor insect fogger. Propane canister not included.

I wanted just what the Bonide and others like it advertised. I have loads of plantings and loads of summertime mosquitoes, enough to discourage outdoor relaxation. The Bonide lays down a good fog and it does discourage mosquitoes but does not eliminate them. It would probably work better on a less green back yard and during a less wet summer. My only complaint is the need for constant pumping to keep the fog coming. I wish the press of the trigger would keep the fog coming until released. However, I can live through that. I am using the shorter propane container against recommendation and it seems to work fine. I am emptying the concentrate container after each use as strongly recommended. Since this is my first season, I'll have to wait a while to see if it remains reliable. All things considered, I would buy the Bonide 420 again.

This product did not work right out of the box. It heated up fine but no fog. I checked the things the manual said to check with no luck. The pump didn't seem to be pulling any insecticide up into the tube. Seeing it looked pretty simple, I unscrewed the brass fitting at the end of the tube that pulls the insecticide into the burner. Inside is a small ball bearing that acts as a ball valve, and a spring. I suspect the spring was either misaligned or the brass fitting was screwed in too tightly to allow the valve to function properly. I replaced the components, screwed the brass fitting back on, and the pump now functioned fine. I still have the fogger, but only because I can't find an inexpensive alternative that performs any better.

The fogger was a good option for us. With recent wet weather, the Florida mosquito population has gone along unfazed into late October. The fogging process was fast and very effective. There is one caveat... the instructions do not include this, but you'll want to wait and let the fogger heat up before you actually start fogging. Once it's heated, it works well, but if it's not hot enough, the fog will catch fire. One fogging left us with, at least for now, no mosquitoes!

You should plan on a shower immediately and likewise launder your clothes because your whole home is going to reek in minutes. That being said it really does the job! My husband used it two days in a row skipped a day then used it again. I was able to work on my flowers for the first time in weeks. I am a `skeeter magnet' so as you can imagine I was delighted. I'm considering one as Christmas gift for my son.

I have owned 3 Black Flags....one was returned to Lowe's right out of the box. Two others leaked soon after owning. All of the Black Flag foggers had issues with properly heating the element. You had to let it heat up for several minutes and as soon as you started fogging (pumping the trigger 4-5 times) you would have to wait a minute or so for the tube to heat again. The Bonide on the other hand heats the element enough to keep it properly heated.....no stopping to wait for it to heat. Makes a really nice dense fog. The color I received was black, thankfully. I love the Bonide. I point out that the manual states that the slender propane bottles are recommended as opposed to the short fat bottle. They warn that the short bottle can cause flare ups which I can attest to as I used a bottle I already had. It might at first alarm you but after the bottle is partly depleted this seems to stop. I intend to purchase the slender bottles in the future.

Update 1-20-2015: Just pulled the fogger out as we are experiencing some unseasonably warm weather and have had a lot of rain. Mosquitoes are becoming a problem. I fired up the fogger and much to my dismay, the pump has stopped working. Time to order a repair kit. :(

This fogger seems to work great. However the second time I used it the plastic propane shut off broke in to pieces when turning it off. They need to have a metal knob where the plastic one is.

This is a Bonide brand propane powered insect fogger. While the seller and brand suggests that you use a Bonide brand insecticide, I purchased the Black Flag brand and it worked just fine. --More to the point, it was FANTASTIC. You will need to supply your own small propane bottle, but those are easy to find at tractor supply stores, WalMart, garden stores, outdoor stores, etc.

Propane vs Electric: We chose propane because we are developing several acres of bare land. This fogger is light-weight and easy to walk around with.

Size: This is not small, nor is it huge or oddly shaped. Minus the propane canister, this is easily stored.

The 'fog': Once lit, you will have to wait for the tip to heat up before it will start fogging. You will have to pull the trigger repeatedly as this is not a continuous flow of fog by just holding the trigger down.

Black Flag liquid flying mosquito killer: We have had a mosquito explosion in the mountains of Idaho this year. We treated approximately 3 1/2 acres in the evening. The next morning, no mosquitos. The little buggers came back the next evening, but were obviously few and far between.

Caution 1: The propane foggers have a heated tip and periodically you will notice a small flame. Be careful if fogging in tall, dry grass.

Caution 2: Let the tip cool down after use and before storing.

And a side note: our neighbors sprayed their property with some professional, $25/gallon stuff....which was not nearly as successful as this setup.

I would buy this again in a nanosecond!
