Dan Barton's backround as a Teacher of Graphic Art's makes this one of the easiest and comprehenseable book on Bonsai ever written. Dan has a very easygoing style that reads well. His section on Black Pines is the best reference for anyone who is trying to devlope a quality Bonsai. This is a must have book for beginners and old hands alike

This single book had everything I needed to help find and maintain my first tree... and then my second and third :) The thing is, there are SO many books and resources on the web that a person just doesn't know where to start? I got lucky when an aquaintence who has been caring for bonsai for ten years suggested this title. The fact that it is a rather old book turned out to be a good thing! It cuts right to the chase with tons of information, side stepping most of the poetic writing I was finding when browsing the bookstore shelves. If you want just the facts, and want them all in one place, this might be the book your looking for? I have half a dozen, and this is the one I use the most. I am new to bonsai and like this book immensely.

I bought the book cause it was cheaper and it is what I was looking for a long time, also it's a classic book for the people do bonsai.
