5.0 out of 5 stars Tomatoes, tomatoes
These germinated very quickly and easily and grew into a compact plant about a foot and a half high. The fruit taste just like regular tomatoes (i.e. not particularly sweet) and are really cherry sized.

If you have a lot on your hands you can just do what I do with 'em: Toss them in a mixture of ground black pepper, minced garlic, onion, basil and olive oil...

1.0 out of 5 stars Bonsai? Mine are fruitless giants
I'd had success growing tomatoes in my high-rise condo but they grew too large. So I tried these Bonsai Dwarf Red Cherry tomatoes. Most of them germinated and they've grown like Topsy. They are now 3' tall with just a few sparse flowers. No sign of fruit but I have a tomato plant jungle. My brother-in-law does Bonsai. He's very good at it. His trees are a tenth of the...

If you have a lot on your hands you can just do what I do with 'em: Toss them in a mixture of ground black pepper, minced garlic, onion, basil and olive oil and then sun dry them or dry them in a dehydrator. They turn out very crisp, yummy and bursting with flavour. Then they can be eaten as a snack or you can save them in a bottle to put on top of pizzas or toss into any Italian dish you're making.

Happy planting!

This is not a small plant. The ones I put in my garden are 5 feet tall and still growing. They have lots and lots of small red tomatos that have a good taste.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good choice for Aerogardens or indoor planters, April 1, 2010

I currently have 9 plants from these seeds - 3 are still in the Aerogarden 7 Classic (which has been modified for extra height) and 6 are in planters indoors.

These tomatoes sprouted really fast in the Aerogarden. Within 2 weeks I had beautiful plants about 4-5 inches tall. Now about 6 weeks into it they are 14-18" and are about ready to set flowers.

They don't like to be fed too much and all have some leaf browning. I have since readjusted their fertilization schedule to monthly and all have new growth without browning. The 3 in the Aerogardens still are bushy and compact with very vigorous root systems. 3 have been in planters for over a month now with 2 plant lights in an otherwise dark room. They are doing very well. I just put another 3 into planters since 6 tomatoes in the Aerogarden was way too much but I wanted to keep them in a hydroponic state for as long as possible.

Overall I am very pleased and am about to start another 7 tomato plants for my garden. So far every seed I have planted has sprouted with a very nice plant. I have even pruned them a bit and started the cuttings in water for more plants. They tolerated the pruning very well and it seemed to energize the plant into making more offshoots. I realize many people are shy about pruning determinate tomatoes but it has worked just fine for me.

His trees are a tenth of the size of my Bonsai Dwarf tomato plants. Maybe these are actually Banzai tomato plants trying to take over my condo. Should I have pruned them to the n'th degree? Put them outside? Fed them more? Less?

Update:

They are now 6' tall and very spindly. Still growing strongly. A lot of the blossoms don't set. The fruit that has set is taking forever to ripen. Maybe indoors at 72 is too cool. But I put some of them on my balcony and they are not doing well, despite temps in the mid to high 80's.

Bonsai - No
Dwarf - No
Giant - Yes
Productive - No.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun tomatoes for a sunny window, February 25, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Bonsai Dwarf Red Cherry Tomato 35 Seeds - Hybrid
These were a lot of fun to grow, but I didn't end up eating many. I put these in--I think--a 5" pot after sprouting, but I think even smaller would be fine. These sprouted well and were super easy to take care of. A great project in a sunny window, especially for kids. These really were tiny plants! The tomatoes were about ½" to ¾" about. I fertilized them lightly (and naturally). If you're looking for tomatoes to eat, this wouldn't be the way to go (although some were really quite sweet!) but if you're looking for an entertaining, very small summer project, this is it! All seeds I planted germinated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed these tomatoes into November, January 18, 2011

This review is from: Bonsai Dwarf Red Cherry Tomato 35 Seeds - Hybrid
Last year, decided to try growing some tomatoes and herbs. Got the seedling kit, planted the seeds and waited. To my amazement, soon we had some tiny shoots and by summer, they were ready to be transplanted. I put them in a big pot
outside. They begin to form tomatoes in August and September but were not yet ripe so brought them into my garage near
the window. There they ripened and we enjoyed eating them into November.
