I ordered this drum set for my 4 yr. old son. I picked it because it was higher priced and therefore I thought it would be higher quality. I was wrong! It was awful and I was completely disappointed. We never even put it together the quality was that cheap. Cardboard and hard plastic. It was so tiny that it would have worked for a one year old but not a 4 year old. If you want to spend a lot of money for no quality - this drum is for you.

My four year old got this for Christmas as he loves singing, listening to music, and striking things around the house to make sounds.
Contrary to the prior review that notes the set is very small, I think that it's a great size for this age group. If the drums were much larger, it would be difficult for my son to get to each one. He sits in the chair, controls the bass drum with his feet and beats up on the snare drum, cymbal, and the third drum on the right side.
This is exactly what I was looking for...this isn't a professional set. I got it to see how my boy interacts with it--an introduction to drumming sounds. It's in their playroom between their study table and bean bags and he stops by the set every now and then, sits down, and plays to his heart's content. Sometimes he just bangs at it without even sitting down! The set also has electronic/lighted areas on the front that directs kids how to play/which drums to strike to carry a beat. My son doesn't use that at all. Maybe he will later, but now it's all about hitting the drums and cymbals to his own beat. He plays with it for a total of 10-15 minutes daily despite all the Wii games, board games, DS games, bikes, hot wheels cars, leap-frog tag books, dvd's, and everything else he and his sister have strewn all over the house...and that's good enough for me!
Every time I hear the clanging from the playroom I just smile and go in and watch him. I'll take a picture of him next to it and post it to give others an idea of the set's size.
Happy New Year!
