1.0 out of 5 stars Caveat Emptor, April 17, 2004

This review is from: Boogeyman 2 (Director's Cut) (DVD)
I thought I was watching a special feature when I started this movie, and was surprised that it was the feature. This is not a sequel, this is one of the worst DVDs of all time. Thankfully, I only rented it and am only out the rental cost. Everybody, be warned, you barely see anything of the actual Boogeyman sequel, just scenes in fast motion. There should be some kind of law because this DVD is slickly packaged and is a complete and total rip-off. Everybody involved with the making of this DVD should feel ashamed. Those who bought it deserve their money back.

1.0 out of 5 stars WARNING! FALSE ADVERTISING, May 20, 2005
This review is from: Boogeyman 2 (Director's Cut) (DVD)
I was so excited when I saw this DVD online. It said DIRECTOR'S CUT on the front UNEDITED, blah blah you know the rest. This DVD is presented on the outside package as the full length Feature Film, "Boogeyman 2". What you actually get is a chopped up edited piece of junk with actual scenes from the film sandwiched inbetween these boring interviews with the director Uli Lommel. This DVD IS NOT the full length Feature Film. Instead it is a cheap, dihonest crooked, misrepresentation of a product designed to fool people like me into thinking I am getting the real film. This is more like a documentary about Boogeyman 2. I am extremely furious at the makers of this DVD and the crook director called Uli Lommel. This is false advertising in the purest form. I wasted $13.39. Dont make the same mistake I did and just get the old 1992 VHS tape Boogeyman 2 from Movie Trading Company for $4.99.

Uli Lommel is a CROOK!.

3.0 out of 5 stars A MUST HAVE for those interested in Ulli Lommel., February 7, 2007
This review is from: Boogeyman 2 (Director's Cut) (DVD)
THIS DVD IS AMAZING!!...for all the wrong reasons. Anyone with an interest in Ulli Lommel needs to check out this DVD, as it is the definitive proof that he has totally lost his mind and his talent as a film maker. The original Boogeyman 2 was basically 50% flashbacks from the original Boogeyman movie and 50% new footage. What he has done with his 'Directors Cut' of Boogeyman 2, is get rid of almost all the original 'Boogeyman 2' footage and replace it with even more flashback footage from the first movie and new footage of himself (once again playing his director character from the original Boogeyman 2) in a white room talking to the camera as if it's a police interview. What we now have is about 85% flashback from the first Boogeyman, 10% Ulli talking to the camera and about 5% Boogeyman 2 footage shown in fast forward. Doing this makes no sense!!! He has made a bad film even worse!! As a bonus on the DVD there is an interview with Ulli which is further proof he has gone mad. He really seems to believe that this version is better and that he has made a good film. You must watch the interview, it is so funny to hear his thoughts on his work. He seems to be the only person that does not realise how bad his films have become. His earlier films such as the original Boogeyman and Devonsville Terror were not bad at all, but his more recent work such as Green River Killer and BTK Killer are some of the worst films to ever be made. There are also 2 trailers for other Boogeyman sequels which also reuse footage. For someone like myself who is intrigued by how Ulli Lommel has become so bad, this DVD was worth every cent as it really highlighted the difference between his earlier style and newer style, and how bad he has become without being aware of it (the interview alone is worth buying it for). I have given this DVD 3 stars not due to its artistic merits (as it has none) or because it is a good film (it is not), but for the reasons outlined above.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boogeyman 2, November 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Boogeyman 2 (Director's Cut) (DVD)
I agree that this is a horrible film. When I ordered Boogeyman 2, I expected something that at least somewhat followed the first Boogeyman film. I left a review on the other Boogeyman 2 film (I guess there are 2 versions??), as that film is what I thought I would be receiving. That's the film I want to see. Please don't waste your money on this version. Let the Boogeyman have this film. Please, if anyone sees him, tell him he can have my copy.

1.0 out of 5 stars The original Boogeyman II (not the director's cut) is even worse..., September 10, 2009
This review is from: Boogeyman 2 (DVD)
The Boogeyman II (Bruce Starr, 1983)

Ulli Lommel's original film The Boogeyman was one of the very definitions of the neologism "craptastic", a mishmash of pieces pulled from other movies wrapped in a paper-thin plot that many of them tore through. But compared to Starr and Lommel's sequel, the first film is a masterpiece.

It's six months later, and Lacey (Lommel's wife Suzanna Love, an heiress to the DuPont fortune) has gone to California to see her old college friend Bonnie (The Princess and the Call Girl's Shannah Hall), now an actress married to struggling art-film director Mickey Lombard (Lommel). After the two of them hear Lacey's story, Bonnie puts together a party of some of Hollywood's sleaziest personages, with the hope that one or more of them will recognize Lacey's story for what it is--a bangup movie plot. The inevitable occurs, but while actresses are campaigning to play Lacey (who doesn't like the idea at all) and producers are constantly on the phone looking for backers, Bonnie and Mickey's faithful, if somewhat creepy, butler Joseph (Shoto von Douglas, who never appeared in another film) stumbles upon the piece of the mirror that Lacey keeps with her. Once again, the inevitable occurs.

As you may have guessed from the first part of that synopsis, the majority of the first half of this movie consists of footage from the first flick. It's a device that I find spectacularly annoying, and I have never once seen a movie in which it's used that's been anything more than execrable. This is no exception. The worst part of it is, however, that the conceit Lommel works with here can be used well (look at Wes Craven's final Nightmare on Elm Street movie, which takes the same conceit and applies some great twists to it), but no one involved with this flick had the remotest intentions of trying to do anything worthwhile with it at all. At least that makes Lommel's character in the film, an art-flick director doing everything he can to avoid being sucked into the Hollywood exploitation machine, amusingly ironic. Doesn't help his incredible lack of acting talent, however, which is shared by the entire cast. And the murders are even sillier than they were in the first movie. Worth watching only if you're a completist, and even then, I'd advise great caution, This way lies madness. (half)

1.0 out of 5 stars BOOGEYMAN 2 IS A RIP OFF!, December 27, 2003

I got all excited when I saw this DVD sitting on the shelf so I picked it up and read the back of it. I figured that since I had Part 1 that I would add this to my collection. What a rip off! All this movie is is Part 1 with the stupid director-in home video form-talking, trying to convince you that Part 1 was based on a true story. You can even see him smiling while he is trying to act serious. I think he knew that he probably screwed alot of people out of their money because when I tried to take this back for a refund I was told that since it was unwrapped that I could not return it. Well Ulli, or whatever the hell this so called directors name is, here some advice-read up on FALSE ADVERTISEMENT LAWS because I have a feeling that after this crappy stunt you might be getting into some trouble.

1.0 out of 5 stars Boogeyman 2 is NOT Boogeyman II - Don't buy it, October 11, 2003

This review is from: Boogeyman 2 (Director's Cut) (DVD)
If you're buying this thinking that you are getting the sequel to Boogeyman, you're wrong!!! This is the original Boogeyman with scenes cut, the director's irrelevant babblings interjected between scenes and an occasional clip from Boogeyman II(in fast-forward mode). So, if you want to add Boogeyman II to you're cllection this not it.
