These comics are sort of like Sergio and Mark's version of horror comics. In them, an old gravedigger narrates stories about the "Boogeyman". The Boogeyman is not a physical being, but rather is the symbolic manifestation of people's fears. The narrative structure gives ample opportunity to tell (mostly) humorous stories about human fears. If you are familar with Sergio's other collaborations with Mark, you know what to expect. If you only know Sergio from his work in Mad Magazine, well, this is similar to that, only longer and with more narrative structure. Recommended to all fans of funny comic books.

This review is from: Boogeyman (Paperback)
All four issues of Boogeyman collected here show Sergio Aragones and Mark Evanier in fine form. This collection of comical 'Tales From the Crypt'-style vignettes are a nice departure from the duo's well-loved Groo the Wanderer. Full of Mark's witty verse and Sergio's fantastic black-and-white drawings, there's plenty to tickle even the grimmest reaper's funnybone. A must for Aragones fans.

If you're looking for the classic no-words Aragones comics, then don't get this book. It is more like the comics you read in the papers.
