Remarkable "Futurefunk" from The Netherlands, January 10, 2007
This review is from: Boogie Angst (Bonus CD) (Dig) (Audio CD)
Kraak & smaak is a collective formed by three producers from Leiden (The Netherlands) : Mark Kneppers, Wim Plug and the classical educated Oscar de Jong. The music on this album is best described as spacy electronic funk. In my opinion this album has to be heard more often to fully appreciate the, sometimes weird, changes of rythym and combinations of sounds. The best piece on this album is Dance Macabre, an exciting piece of music with some beautiful female singing.
i could recommend this album to everyone who enjoys music which is not predictable at all. The fact that this remarkable album is made by dutchmen is something to be proud of ... (for me, that is).

Solid House, December 3, 2006
This review is from: Boogie Angst (Bonus CD) (Dig) (Audio CD)
I first heard of Kraak & Smaak a few years ago with the release of the "Keep On Moving" EP on vinyl. I loved the grooves and use of samples on "One Of These Days" on the original release. The new CD however re-records the vocals for that track. Perhaps some licencing issues? Other than that it's pretty solid production on the House, Deep House and Downtempo grooves.
