My kids are ages 6 and 9 and love it. I think any age could use them, but you may have to supervise the 4 year old a little to make sure they don't push too hard on the screen and ruin it. I would recommend it, my kids love them! Great for practicing spelling words and helping with math without wasting an 8x11 sheet of paper.

No. It stays on the screen until you hit the reset button up on top. I take a picture with my camera if daughter writes something cute. It does erase as soon as you press the button. Hope this helps!

I own an 8.5 inch Boogie Board. I do not own a case and do not miss it. I use the boogie board as a scratch pad on my desk. Hope this helps.

It has a 3V battery that never needs to be replaced (thats what the box says) and there's no place on it to unscrew so hopefully they are right about that

Yes the pen comes with it. It has four magnets that you can attach to the back of the board. It also comes with a pen holder that clips to the top of the board.
