Editorial Reviews

From 1974 and 75 comes Boogie Brothers and Wire Fire . Boogie Brothers features Stan Webb and Miller Anderson; Kim Simmonds has been ever-present in all line ups of this durable boogie blues band. Savoy Brown still continue to tour and record. Digitally remastered and slipcased with extensive new notes.

I am not reviewing the music here, chances are you know about Savoy Brown if you're on this page. Two great albums in blues-rock, I will say that! And I prefer Wire Fire to Boogie Brothers, but both are good and you really can't go wrong with Savoy Brown. I am reviewing to comment on the absolutely superb sound quality of these albums. This reissue series sounds fantastic!! Whether in my expensive Sony headphones or in my crappy car stereo, these CD's have GREAT sound quality. So if you are wondering whether it is worth it to get the remastered editions, I say it is!! Good stuff, and very highly recommended!

As with a lot of the Savoy Brown albums, these albums were a time of personnel change (except for the founder, Kim Simmonds) but the high quality of the music stayed the same. The keyboardist/guitarist Paul Raymond, who wrote or co-wrote a lot of the material, is still playing and touring with UFO which he joined shortly after these albums in 1976.

With so many albums in their stable, this type of packaging and pricing makes not only good sense but incentive to purchase the whole collection, as I did.
