4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Collection, But Missing Several Selections, January 21, 2003
By
Ben Hough (Vanderbilt, Pa United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Boogie Nights 2: More Music From The Original Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Vol.2 of Boogie Nights takes you through the 70's into the 80's with a great selection of music from the movie. The music takes you through the life of Dirk Diggler through the ups and downs of his life. The only thing lacking is that several songs were left off the cd including the classic Fleetwood Mac song "Tusk" and Devo's "Jerkin Back And Forth" which are included on the DVD version of the film. However the music makes you feel you are in the film and with Dirk through his journey. A must for any fan of the motion picture.

5.0 out of 5 stars Put On Your "Boogie Shoes" With Dirk Diggler!, May 19, 2004
This review is from: Boogie Nights 2: More Music From The Original Motion Picture (Audio CD)
With Three Dog Night's warning song "Mama Told Me (Not to Come)", Elvin Bishop's regretful ballad, "Fooled Around and Fell in Love"
disco great, You Sexy Thing by Hot Chocolate and the FABULOUS, FUN Boogie Shoes by non other than KC & the Sunshine Band
Other highlights are "Do Your Thing" with Charles Wright & the Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, and "Driver's Seat" from one hit wonder Sniff 'n' the Tears.

Feel Too Good - The Move
Jessie's Girl - Rick Springfield
J.P. Walk - Sound Experience
I Want to Be Free - The Ohio Players
Joy - Apollo 100 round out the CD.

Great listening that will either take you back to the 70's or the "Boogie Nights" movie or possibly... BOTH!

Happy Listening!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just as good as the first one, if not better..., April 22, 2001

This review is from: Boogie Nights 2: More Music From The Original Motion Picture (Audio CD)
There were so many great songs in Boogie Nights, and not all of them could fit onto the first one. This much-needed addition is just as good (if not better) than the first one, and I've found that I actually to this one more. My favorites are Mama Told Me Not To Come (Three Dog Night), You Sexy Thing (Hot Chocolate), Boogie Shoes (KC & The Sunshine Band), Driver's Seat (Sniff 'n' the Tears), Feel Too Good (The Move), and Jessie's Girl (Rick Springfield). If you like the original soundtrack I'd definitely recommend getting this one too, and vice versa.

All of the songs that are on the CD are well worth the time it takes to listen to them. Not only that but they're good dancing songs and good songs to sing along with. I enjoyed every song on the CD.

A great CD. My wife and I put this on and go back to 1979. We enjoy it more than BN1, although they are both good. Great movie, great cd. Buy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT COMPILATION OF POPULAR HITS, February 22, 2000
This review is from: Boogie Nights 2: More Music From The Original Motion Picture (Audio CD)
This follow up to the original BOOGIE NIGHTS soundtrack has all the songs the first one was missing. This disc WILL HAVE YOU DANCING! It's filled with great tunes from the '70's and even early '80's. I wish the record company had packaged both in a dual disc so that movie fans could have had all the songs in one place.

5.0 out of 5 stars PERFECT COMPANION, September 19, 2001

.....to the first volume. This cd has even more great songs from the film. I love Driver's Seat and of course Boogie Shoes. It is a must that you pick up both volumes of this particular soundtrack. The variety of music is awesome and it will be well worth your money. I would have liked to have seen Lonely Boy by Andrew Gold, Fly Robin Fly by the Silver Connection, and Sunny by Boney M included. But hey....I guess you can't have your cake and eat it too!! ;) Regardless, these cds are well worth the money.

4.0 out of 5 stars The 70s album, its got it all., March 5, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Boogie Nights 2: More Music From The Original Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Boogie Nights was an hip movie that needed a hip soundtrack. That is just what we got. It has disco, techno, and rock'n'roll all together on one fantastic soundtrack. If you like dancing music, this is a must for your collection. The soundtrack was just as good as the movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good compliation from a great movie, September 20, 2004
This review is from: Boogie Nights 2: More Music From The Original Motion Picture (Audio CD)
Boogie Nights let us know that we really loved the 70's and that we really ARE nostalgic for the music from the period - ALL THE MUSIC!

This second CD from the film soundtrack effectively provides us with more memories from not only the film, but from the era.

Apollo 100's Joy is a favorite as is Three Dog Night's Mama Told Me Not to Come.

Thought neither CD (CD 1 nor this one) contains Andrew Gold's Lonely Boy, which I really felt was emotionally a direct hit - so that's a bad thing.

Both of these CDs will share a welcome place in your house along with the DVD of the film.

"A great soundtrack for an even better movie. The director has managed to capture the mood of the 70s and early 80s very well using both the medium of film and CD.
