you can't help but feel happy listening to Coloma on piano, November 17, 2010
Lluis Coloma is an 'undiscovered' virtuoso. Even if you aren't attracted to boogie style piano, I bet you will love this album.
Lluis' playing is very precise and articulate. He uses his versatility on the keyboard to keep it interesting. Songs don't sound alike, and not just because he includes the odd tuba in the ensemble. The ensemble is tight and top quality, but the arrangements and mix allow the awesome piano playing (except 2 tracks featuring organ) to always be front and center. The recording quality is super.
I've owned and listened to this CD for 3 years. I never get tired of listening to Lluis Coloma play piano. I have all his releases. All are excellent...Remember, Boogie Portraits and Lonely Avenue are also studio recordings, but honestly, his live album 7 Nights At Central is so well recorded, and the performances are so perfect, there isn't much difference with those studio releases.
I wish I could suggest the one best release to buy, but I've tried and I can't decide! This is the first one I owned.
If you ever get a chance to hear Lluis play live you will be amazed, and probably in Barcelona.
