The suspicious lack of a writing credit on Dual isn't surprising (who would want to admit they wrote this?), but it isn't Kouhei Kadono, creator of Boogiepop. He only provided the concept, which isn't bad, but the execution is completely devoid of anything fans love about his work and the Boogiepop series in general.

Choppy storytelling, worthless dialog, lazy and awkward sequential art -- heck, even the lettering is often so carelessly done it's distracting.

Boogiepop Dual has nothing to do with the Boogiepop universe except the name. It's a non-continuity filler story featuring a generic character (not Touka) wearing a similar outfit while acting nothing like Boogiepop. None of the characters are interesting, likable or believable. In Vol. 2, the story improves a bit because they finally get around to telling one. However, the creators/perpetrators of Boogiepop Dual still didn't seem to care about any of it, and I doubt most Boogiepop fans will either.

I'm a big fan of the Boogiepop manga series, and this one is a very good addition to the series. The plot was very appealing, and the characters were pretty awesome. I recommend this, definitely.
