The Greatest Kabbalistic Magical Work,
This review is from: Book of the Angel Raziel (Hebrew Edition) (Paperback)
The Book of Raziel is one of the only works of the authentic Jewish magical Kabbalah to be printed. It includes sections dealing with magical angelic names, protective amulets, Kabbalistic diagrams, and excerpts from the works of great Kabbalists. It is a compilation of Jewish magical literature, some of which dates back to the first few centuries CE and all the way through to the seventeenth century. This book is very hard to find and is written only in Hebrew. It is said that just possessing it protects one's home from fire.

Not a good copy, but...,

Well, the good side of this edition is that the text is all here, including the diagrams and all. It's a rather nice, portable little edition, printed right-to-left as is the custom for Hebrew books.
The down side is that it's a rather poor quality facsimile copy. Much of the text is written in extremely small print, and it can be extremely difficult to make out the letters in many places. Alot of the text is either too dark or too light to read. Many letters appear smeared or blobbed together from the photocopy. That said, this is still the best copy you're likely to find. I've been searching for a while for any copy of this book, and this is the only copy I've been able to find. Parts of the text are readable, and the diagrams are perfectly legible. If you really want a copy of this book, this is the best you're likely to find. But if you do find a better copy, please let me know!

There is a reason why this isn't translated,
By Rich Rounds "Myrlin" (Plantation, Florida) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Book of the Angel Raziel (Hebrew Edition) (Paperback)
The reason this hasn't been translated, and wouldn't work if it was, is that you should be fully versed in the many and varied meanings of each hebraic word used. IE; there is a big difference between Elohim and YHVH yet it English it all gets translated to God. You would be best served to learn Hebrew and steep yourself in QBLH writings start with the Sephir Yetzirah and such.

The book for the most part is illegible (a fascimile copy of an archaic printing), I think it is basically a 'token' book, that is one to keep in one's house to prevent fires (a traditional use of the Book of Raziel). I would like to see it in a readable size say QUARTO... or even 5x7 with the text enlarged. Using the scanner to enlarge has not helped much...
Will continue to search out other texts in fascimile to compare.

bad version,
By matthew marroquin "Matty" (Edinburg, TX United States) - See all my reviews

I understand the importance of this book when it comes to understanding certain conceptions that the early kabbalists had concerning angels, astrology, creation, heaven ascention, talismans, and even the measurment of God's body, but this book's hebrew reproduction is way too small, the hebrew alphabet can sometimes be confusing to read when u consider that some of the letters of the alphabet are alike in appearance. The print is virtually way too small. I think the publisher only wanted to make an afordable talisman; as the book is legendary for protecting houses from fires, and i presume, evil spirits aswell.

A great shame for me when i opened the book, the text is minute and some of the print is too faint to read. I had intended to use the book to help me in my own understanding as i learn to translate some of it for myself, but unfortunately it will be very difficult with such poor quality printing and the constant need for a large magnifying glass.

a plea,

I do not know Hebrew but I own a copy of the book in this language which I keep as a precious memento. A friend presented me with a short extract from the book translated into English. It is of indescribable beauty. I plead with anyone with scholastic knowledge of Hebrew to translate this work into English and make it available to the public. It would be a great service in today's day and age. If anyone knows of a copy in English that is for sale or available for viewing please let me know.

Great book, but need a little help.,

I got the book because of it's background and because of it's rareity. I tried talking to some rabbis in my city and they just looked at me and laughed, like, I wasn't suppose to have a book of such great power. They wouldn't help me translate it, and no guides online or at the bookstores could help me decifer it. If anyone has already translated this into english, would you please help me...email me at: systemmalice@yahoo.com
