Way over 5 stars!,
This review is from: Book of Answers (Hardcover)
The picture here at Amazon does not do this book justice. It is about
two inches thick, the size of your hand, and is covered in a classic black cover. This is one stylish little package. The book feels good in your hands. If you saw it on a coffee table you would reach out for it instinctively. "The Book of Answers" is a book of mystery, you are instantly intrigued when you see its unique size and the first thing you will think will be: "What is that book about!" I first saw this book sitting on a shelf. I was one of the last people to a book signing party. They were just putting the books away, when I became intrigued. I walked over and found the last Autographed copy...as if it was waiting for me. I opened the book and saw a few words on each page. What I didn't realize was that I had to ask a question first, and then open the book! Fortunately Carol Bolt was there to save me and explained how the book worked. Carol Bolt is one of the nicest authors I have ever met. She is just as fun to talk to as her book is to read. As soon as I knew the secret of how to play with this new toy for my brain, I was laughing out loud. Carol explained that it has the intrigue of a magic eight ball, but unlike the magic ball, this book has so many more answers. This is the most amusing book I have ever found. It brings out the mischievous kid or the thoughtful adult. In me, it brought out both and the "little question box I used to be." Now, if only my father had owned one of these books when I was a child. You supply all the questions, and then you can find one answer printed in capital letters on each page. There are no page numbers so you can't cheat. The only way you could try to cheat is to look up the answer again. You will find that even that will not always work. Now, I will say, this book told me the best answers anyone could have ever given me. So much so, that I could feel chills going down my spine. It will scare you when the answer is so near to the truth. The instructions are on the back of the cover on a removable sticker and are also in the front of the book. You place your hand on the cover, reflect on a question, and then when it feels right you choose a page and read the answer. Now you should be careful what you ask! The answer might be: "Get it in writing," "You'll have to compromise," "Keep an open mind," "Watch and see what happens," "Only do it once," etc. My husband asked: "Will I make more money at my new job." The answer: "In a year from now, it won't matter!" Now that leads to another question! Why? The idea for "The Book of Answers" came from the advice her parents gave to her while she was growing up. She told me it holds "all the answers to her life." Now, that convinced me to buy it! You will instantly recognize this as a book of wisdom. Carol first self-published 130 copies of her book in February 1998. She then easily found a publisher. This is why I have the belief that life is a journey. Sometimes you have to follow your own path to success! When I asked the book: Will we have a new president soon? The answer was: "It is Certain." I cheated and asked the same question again...to my astonishment...I found the same answer! Apparently, that answer is in the front and the back of the book. Now, what is the chance of that happening? (Back to the book) "The chance will not come again soon." I will be introducing this book to my family this Christmas. Oh what fun we are all going to have! What a way to top off a year of finding great books. Now this one is going to the top of my favorites list! You can also really give this book to anyone! Carol's second book, "The Literary Book of Answers," contains all the solutions and answers you need from famous works of literature. Why not have William Shakespeare tell you the answer to your pressing question. Carol, who is also an artist, is working on a third book, which I know is going to be excellent. ~The Rebecca Review

There's nothing like an unbiased opinion.,

Me: "Should I continue to be self-employed?" Book: "of course." Me: "Are you sure I should continue to be self-employed?" Book: "give it all you've got." Me: "Are you really sure I should continue to be self-employed?" (Admittedly, this was a day I was frustrated with my clients and myself, and was considering bagging the whole deal.) Book: "mind your own business." (!)I have been asking this book questions for over a year now (I am one of the lucky hundred or so people who had the opportunity to buy a copy of the artist edition of this book when the author was selling them at Bailey-Coy bookstore in Seattle in 1998). I have asked the book dumb questions ("Should I have spaghetti for dinner?"), serious questions ("Is my father dying?"), and questions in frustrating moments (see exchange between book and I above). The answers, while usually startlingly applicable, never fail to confirm for me what I know to be true--whether I want to believe it or not.

Instant Serendipity.,

It was actually quite amazing, I was in a bookstore with a friend and we stumbled across this book. She mentioned that her brother had a copy and he used it all the time. She proceeded to tell me a long story involving the book, her brother, a criminal adventure and a last minute escape from the police. I turned to the book, still awed by her story and asked: "Should I buy this book". I opened it to a random page and the answer I recieved was:"That would be a waste of money."

This Book can lelp you learn your true feelings.,
By Mike Bowman (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Book of Answers (Hardcover)
I bought this book after asking a question and getting an answer that truly surprised me-not because the answer was necessarily true, but because it was the way I "truly felt". Instead of using this book as some sort of oracle-which could actually harm you by leading you on a path away from your true self-try using it another way. Ask your question-get your answer then ask yourself if you liked or agreed with the answer. This way the book can actually be a source for pulling up your true feelings. For this to work most effectively you should ask questions related to yourself and not about others. My wife and I have enjoyed this book by asking questions together. I have learned more about what concerns her using this book than any other book or game you could think of. If you plan to buy this book to be some sort of guide for your life, then I would suggest you not buy it. However, If you want some laughs and you use it as a barometer of what you truly want- this could become one of your favorite books.

Far More Yielding Than Your Average Magic 8 Ball,
By
This review is from: Book of Answers (Hardcover)
There's really not a whole lot to say about this book. It's basically a Magic 8 Ball in book form, though, of course, it has FAR more possible results, seeing as it has hundreds and hundreds of pages. It's great fun for a gift or at a party or even just to consult on your own for all those little "yes or no" decisions you have to make from day-to-day. It's quite a fabulous idea, really, though perhaps a bit pricey for what it is. Nevertheless, it's lots of fun. I highly suggest it.

Funny--Masterful, sly wit delivered simply and practically.,

This book is a hoot. After using it to answer mundane questions, (Should you drive or fly? Must we leave now?) dare explore your dreams--Move to Tibet? Texarkana? Will I make my goal of millions by sundown? At board meetings, family roundtables, parties, or as an icebreaker--however we use "The Book of Answers", it fuels what may already be in our heads, in our hearts, or at our fingertips. What makes it hilarious, is this book's voice. Bolt has captured wisdom's funnybone.

Got Questions? This Book Has The Answers,
By
This review is from: The Book of Answers (Paperback)
First of all, The picture here dosent do the book Justice. I dont know if you buy the book featured here it will come with the same picture listed but the book I purchased from a different store & the one I own is in a hardcover black bound book with fancy handwriting and printing on the front. It was also more expensive than the one listed here yet its the same book. Its very thick yet a decent size to carry around or just stuff in a bag.
Its a mystical little book that is sort of a modern day Eight Ball or Quija Board. Heres how to use the book- 1.Hold the closed Book in your hand, on your lap, or on a table 2.Take 10 or 15 seconds to concentrate on your question. Questions should be phrased closed end. E.G- 'Is the job im applying for the right one?' or 'Should I Travel this Weekend?' 3.While visualizing or speaking your question (one question at a time), place one hand palm down on the books front cover and stroke the edge of the pages, back to front 4.When you sense the time is right, open the book and there will be your answer. 5.Repeat the process for as many questions as you have. This is a beautiful book with some interesting phrases inside and advice, its basically for fun but I guess you can take this seriously and follow the advice, Overall, its a unique book and would make a good gift.

Fun Book,

I received this book a week ago and I've had so much fun with it. It is a great conversation piece for when friends or family come over. You don't have to be a believer in tarot or oracle cards or any of that, it is a fun book and you can take the answers however lightly or seriously you want. I've found that no matter what question I ask, it's right on target. I am enjoying this book and recommend it.

At least as good as a shrink!,

This review is from: Book of Answers (Hardcover)
I laughed right out loud when I opened it. At last, ANSWERS, not just more QUESTIONS, brief and on only one page at that! I looked around me to see if my outburst had been noticed, then, following the directions on the back, I "asked" the question that had been on my mind that day. When the "time was right," as directed, I opened the book and there was my answer: "You are too close to see." I thought about this instant wisdom. Not bad, and a whole lot cheaper than $175 an hour!
