    Book Description

    The cover counts.

The importance of a great cover is not to be underestimated. It is like with most things in life -- the first impression counts.

The internet is flooded with hundreds of new ebooks everyday. To be successful, yours must stand out. Therefore, it is important to find a designer you trust and who matches your needs for your very own masterpiece -- your book.

"Book Cover: Selected" shows that book covers can be art, too. Featured here are some of Susanna Ivy's more popular cover designs. For lovers of graphic design and fans of art, "Book Covers: Selected" seeks to remind the viewer that first impressions mean everything.

Susanna Ivy got a degree in Graphic Design and works as freelance designer and photographer.

Please note: For best results it is recommended that you view this book on Kindle Fire, a free Kindle computer application or a free Kindle smartphone application. For those with black and white Kindles the photos will still be viewable.

**Acclaim for the Design Books by Susanna Ivy**

"I've known Susanna Ivy for four years now--and she's easily one of the most talented designers I've ever met. She has done TWENTY covers for me, and each one is original and painstakingly crafted. Susanna Ivy is a true artist."
--J.R. Rain, #1 bestselling author of Moon Dance

"Susanna brings a powerful uniqueness to her covers that is much more than eye-catching art. I've had several readers tell me that the covers for both "Plague of Coins" and "Reign of Coins" held their attention to where they felt drawn in by the images. You can't ask for a better accomplishment than that!" --Aiden James, bestselling author

"This Kindle book is a cool showcase of selected Kindle ebook covers designed by the talented Susanna Ivy. Further, her covers help sell books -- a number of these covers resulted in bestselling books and viewing them is a good study for what works in Kindle book design. With only a front cover for Kindle books, the design of a cover has to have maximum impact at thumbnail size, as well as on a small rectangle on the Amazon buy-it page. My publisher had her design on one of my covers and it is a good-selling book. It is not enough to write a great book. It has to be wrapped in a beautiful package. Susanna Ivy has a keen artist's eye and an intuition for design that takes the high concept of a novel and delivers the author's words as a visual theme in the marketplace. Also an award-winning photographer, Ms. Ivy has a sense of light, color, and composition that translates from her photo savvy into her graphic design for book covers. This is a display of her talent as a book designer that shows an understanding of what makes novels intriguing to readers in the marketplace and beyond. Five stars."

3.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what it says it is June 16, 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a collection of book covers, nothing more or less. Some of the designs are really striking and attractive, some less so. There are some nice inspirations in this book. What it lacks and I would have really liked was some discussion about the covers: what the artist thought about them, why they made the artistic choices they did, something to give it a little more meat.

At it is, it is a pretty picture book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning ebook covers by a gifted artist August 19, 2012
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you are browsing the Kindle store for a fabulous new book to read, and you stumble on one with a Susanna Ivy cover, it is likely to stop you dead in your tracks. It may even haunt your daydreams, if not your night dreams. For instance, just take a peek at those amber, lupine eyes on the cover of *Lost Valley*: Perhaps any technically competent artist could render the visage of a wolf, but Susanna Ivy's wolf has a riveting intensity -- an implicit interplay of almost human emotions in its eyes as they contemplate you frontally, head-on (although perhaps only a third of the wolf's face is abstracted for placement on this particular cover).

Other creations in this collection of the artist's diverse ebook covers evoke the color and exotic historical flavor of fiction set in distant times and places. They adeptly draw you in to the vast, arid ambience of desert lands at the time of the Second Temple, or the medieval aura of mystery surrounding Merlin's magic (symbolized by a glowing, phosphorescent orb that could be a crystal ball, or a globe, or a whole other world unto itself, with wonderful use of light and shadow as in so many of the covers in this book); the always seductive quest for the Holy Grail; the question of what face hides behind or within that detailed and realistic suit of armor (Sir Lancelot's, judging from the book title).

The artist is equally adept at conjuring up the sunny, wholesome themes of middle-school friendships or high-schoolers' summer shenanigans at the beach.
