This book is an ok overview work of the various types of divination that have been employed by man. Areas touched on include: Astrology, Numerology, Runes, Tasseomancy, Oneiromancy,Haruspicy, Tarot, Chiromancy, Geomancy, Phrenology, Metoposcopy and a few others. The treatment is brief, and should serve strictly as an overview. Don't expect anything in depth in any of these chapters. Well illustrated and nice picture plates. Light reading, nothing heavy. Good for party banter.

Beautifully illustrated with rich vintage images and gorgeous symbols of divination, this new title kept me enthralled for hours, browsing through the Astrology signs, working up my personal numerology, and learning about Tarot. I was shocked to see such a low price in this age of $60 coffee table books for something I could really use and find so visually captivating. Not only is The Book of Divination a great find for myself but I recommend it to everyone who reads their horoscope or wonders how the future tells you its secrets!

For someone new to divination or merely curious about it or wanting a very brief history this is the book for you. It lightly touches upon many various methods of divination and gives an informative albeit brief history behind the various methods of divination. this book has a new home onmy living-room coffee table. Everyone has to pick it up and peruse it for a while whenever they sit down. A definate Great Buy.

I bought this book as a gift for a friend who is learning Tarot and I ended up reading most of it myself! This is a great introduction to the many, many systems of fortune telling and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to learn about divination. The illustrations alone are worth the price of the book ~ this is a very cool book.

This book is definately a great resource - I find myself picking it up each and every day to learn about new bits of information. I love learning more about horoscopes and numerology. Did you know that Madonna believes in numerology as well? Her favorite numbers are 1, 7, 9, and 13. Those songs on her Ray of Light cd are the BEST!

Anyway, this is a great book and truly a value. A lot of spirit and creativity went into the design of this book. Kudos to Ann Fiery and Chronicle Books!

A perfect gift for those interested in metaphysics!

This book is very comprehensive for a book that doesn't cover just one specific topic. It has a lot of beautiful illustrations and covers a lot of really interesting topics that I haven't found covered in other books. Overall it is verrrrrrrry interesting and wonderful to read.

I purchased this book as an introduction to create interest for beginners in the world of divination. The short sections and beautiful artwork will hold the interest of the novice without over whelming. I found each section concise, not wordy and easy to understand. When moving last year, this book made the cut as one of my reference books. Dinah Harrison Arnette is the author of Never Alone - A True Story

I will keep this and refer to it frequently. I am also going to purchase a copy for a friend of mine. It's fun, the pictures are beautiful, and it's full of facts. I have enjoyed thumbing through it and look forward to refering to it in the future.

THIS BOOK IS A WONDERFUL ON THE HISTERY OF DIVIATION!BUT FOR SOMEONE WANTING A MORE SIMLPLIED IT DOES NOT DO THE TRICK.IT IS A GREAT BOOK TO HAVE TOUGHT FOR YOUR LEARNING OF SUCH AS WICCA AND ALL EARTHBASED PERSONS.
