Maxwell Award Winner!,
By
This review is from: The Book of the Greyhound (Hardcover)
Hello everyone!I wanted to let my readers know that The Book of the Greyhound was recently awarded the Maxwell Award as the best Single Breed Pet Guide for 2000. The Award was presented by the Dog Writers Association of America at a Ceremony and Dinner at the Southgate Tower Hotel in NYC on February 11, 2001. I was grealy honored to receive this award and want to take this opportunity to thank my Editor, Connie Isbell, and everyone at TFH Publications who worked so diligently to bring this book about. The Book of the Greyhound covers just about every detail related to owning and loving a Greyhound. It covers the history, standards, performance activities, showing your Greyhound, adoption, top show dogs and producers, and breeders from all over the world. This is the most comprehensive book published about the Greyhound and has been very well received and reviewed by its readers.

A Beautiful Book for Greyhound Fanciers,

This is a beautiful book. I rate it highly largely because of it's beauty. If one is interested in show Greyhounds, this book certainly has no equal. It's fairly obvious the writer is among those who do not think NGA dogs should be shown and bred in the AKC genepool, but I can overlook that. This is worth having for any Greyhound person. It does include chapters on retired hounds and activities with Greyhounds, as well as many beautiful photos!

I don't think the book was in "excellent condition" as described. There also was someone's handwritten message on the title page. I'm pleased with the content of the book, I was just expecting it to be in "like new" condition.
