5.0 out of 5 stars Funniest thing I've read in a long time
I've got to say it is not easy to make me laugh, and this thing had me on the floor for literally hours. I was LAUGHING OUT LOUD, which is truly surprising, even to me.

Not for the squeamish, this is a very funny look at just how horrible and selfish people really are.

1.0 out of 5 stars Truly horrible - and not in a good way
This book is beyond horrible. I enjoy the sick and twisted as much as the next gal, but this book goes way too far. Bad enough are the questions about putting puppies in a trash compactor (apparently money trumps compassion - a fact that pretty much breaks my heart), but the whole section on explicit sexual acts with family members is so far across the line, you can't...

4.0 out of 5 stars A Horrible Book for Horrible People (I guess that means I'm horrible), September 17, 2006

Okay, the title pretty much sums up this review in a way. Most of the questions are truly horrific. Take this one:

$1,000,000: Dig up the grave site and such the marrow out of one of the dead person's bones. (Smith or Doe must witness the sucking and confirm the bone is empty -- only then will the money be wired into your account)

I wouldn't do it for $10 million. Yet 8% of the respondents did, indeed, say yes. There's only one question in the book that NOBODY said yes to. Just one. Imagine it, for I won't spoil it here. There are some with SHOCKINGLY high percentages (well above 80%) and some of the jot of this book comes from actually seeing what people will do for a buck (or million).

It's a great mental exercise book and you can learn a great deal about your friends. In fact, more than you'd like to know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and thought-provoking, June 23, 2003
By
This review is from: The Book of Horrible Questions: Everyone Has a Price-What's Yours? (Paperback)
Although some of the questions in this book are truly horrible (that is, you'd prefer never to consider the circumstances) it is very enjoyable and interesting. Try reading through it with somebody you know well (such as sibling, close friend, or that special someone) and answering the questions honestly. Being candid can be quite a challenge, but you'll notice that if you let your worst side out, then you'll find out a lot of interesting things about the other person as well. In general, the questions asked in the book are funny and thought-provoking and you will begin pondering how you would act in the cases provided. The book is divided into sections: Big Ticket Items, Torture, The Good News and the Bad News, How Much Would You Pay?, "Money Talks, Nobody Walks", Sex Related, "Bargain Basement", Questions of Personal Ethics, Food, If Nobody Ever Knew, Selfish Selfish Bastard, Man's Best Friend, All-Powerful Red Button, Priorities, Incest on Sale, A Crazed Madman Has a Gun, The Smith and Doe Low-Rent Celebrity Auction, and Life Choices. The variety of ways the questions are asked prevent this book from becoming monotonous and allow one to pick a favorite section.

If you are into dark comedy and the macabre, appreciate twisted, foul humor sometimes considered obscene (along the lines of South Park, George Carlin, Drawn Together, Wonder Showzen, Howard Stern and others), you'll probably have fun pondering some of these hypothetical questions disguised as moral dilemmas.
Yes, there is something for everyone, levels of depravity that surely will tickle any individual's icky bone, no matter their "thing." Some may need to look away from certain pages not wanting to see sentences whose outcomes are too gross to even comprehend.
It's like "Would You Rather" for an underground freak society.
But how many times can you read a question and think over possibilities that'll never happen before it's passe'?
Maybe a couple times at a few gatherings, max, then it's old.
Good for some gross-outs and guffaws, then sell it to someone else.

I love question books. This one is not a disappointment. If you are looking for some fun, pick this book up. It's also insightful and tells you a lot about yourself and how you compare to others.

One of the funniest things I've ever read! A guaranteed icebreaker, great for parties or even dull functions. Everyone needs to own or have access to a copy of this book. Couldn't recommend it higher.

I couldn't stop reading it, I had to go on. I played this game with co-workers through company email before I read the book, and geez, the ones we thought of were no where near as good as these! This book is hilarious to ask people in the office! We could hardly read the questions from laughing so hard.

I am a co-host of the Naked Radio(tm) morning show. We had these guys on the air and they were hysterical. The book is thought provoking and I learned a lot about people I thought I knew well. My girlfriend and I even broke it out when her parents came to dinner and we all had a great time debating our respective answers. What an ice breaker!!!
