5.0 out of 5 stars Book hug perfect for Kindle, July 15, 2008

This review is from: Book Hug (Office Product)
I wanted a book holder for my Kindle eReader, as I often read at or by a table and like having my reader at a good angle, without having to hold it all the time.

After reading about several book stands, with comments, I decided the Book Hug might be the most convenient and at a good price. I was a bit concerned, as it can't be adjusted, but once I tried using the Hug with my Kindle, I was extremely pleased, and found it perfect for this use.

The Pro's... reading is at a good angle. The book Hug is solid metal, well made, nicely finished with a slight texture that helps keep books or readers from slipping out. There are small pads on the bottom, which keeps the holder steady on the table or other surface as well as being protective of surfaces. It's solid feeling and just heavy enough to not tip over, yet not so heavy as to be cumbersome. The tabs at the bottom front hold the reader or book come just high enough to keep the reader secure, but not high enough to obscure the "sleep" or other buttons and controls on the Kindle, which are fully accessible without removing it from the stand. It can be used with the Kindle cover or without.

The Con's ... this book holder/stand if fine for books under 1 1/2 inches, but will not securely hold large, thick volumes open. Also, if a book has not had it's spine broken in, pages may slip out from the front holding tabs.

Another use... this stand would be a nice holder for display of framed art, prints or Art books.

In summary, I highly recommend this as a very well made and useful product. A big Plus.. it's reasonably priced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Hug is a great gift, November 16, 2009

This reading device works differently than others that clip on to the book. I haven't found any other that's designed this way. I bought several as gifts for friends. It's a great idea for older folks who have everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for Kindle (2), April 26, 2009

I own 3 different book stands - two I like better for books - the third (Bookhug) is a natural for the Kindle. My favorite place to read is at the kitchen counter and based on the height of my bar stools and the angle I like most for reading, this is perfection. I modified mine a bit for less than $2 to add more protection for the Kindle itself and to stop the sliding you get with the stock felt pads. I bought a small pack of clear, rubber, stick-on pads from Wal-Mart and placed them where the Kindle would not touch the stand itself. This way I can place it on the stand minus the leather cover or in the leather cover - both work well. I also placed pads where the Kindle would rest on the bottom of the stand. Oila! No slipping or scratching for my Kindle! Half the price of the stand you see in Kindle accessories!
