5.0 out of 5 stars Book hug perfect for Kindle
I wanted a book holder for my Kindle eReader, as I often read at or by a table and like having my reader at a good angle, without having to hold it all the time.

I picked one up at Barnes & Noble, thinking one could never have too many book holders, plus I thought it looked attractive. I tried to use it to hold books and manuals while working at my computer. 5.0 out of 5 stars Book hug perfect for Kindle, July 15, 2008

I wanted a book holder for my Kindle eReader, as I often read at or by a table and like having my reader at a good angle, without having to hold it all the time.

After reading about several book stands, with comments, I decided the Book Hug might be the most convenient and at a good price. I was a bit concerned, as it can't be adjusted, but once I tried using the Hug with my Kindle, I was extremely pleased, and found it perfect for this use.

The Pro's... reading is at a good angle. The book Hug is solid metal, well made, nicely finished with a slight texture that helps keep books or readers from slipping out. There are small pads on the bottom, which keeps the holder steady on the table or other surface as well as being protective of surfaces. It's solid feeling and just heavy enough to not tip over, yet not so heavy as to be cumbersome. The tabs at the bottom front hold the reader or book come just high enough to keep the reader secure, but not high enough to obscure the "sleep" or other buttons and controls on the Kindle, which are fully accessible without removing it from the stand. It can be used with the Kindle cover or without.

The Con's ... this book holder/stand if fine for books under 1 1/2 inches, but will not securely hold large, thick volumes open. Also, if a book has not had it's spine broken in, pages may slip out from the front holding tabs.

Another use... this stand would be a nice holder for display of framed art, prints or Art books.

In summary, I highly recommend this as a very well made and useful product. A big Plus.. it's reasonably priced.

5.0 out of 5 stars Book Hug is a great gift, November 16, 2009

This reading device works differently than others that clip on to the book. I haven't found any other that's designed this way. I bought several as gifts for friends. It's a great idea for older folks who have everything.

I own 3 different book stands - two I like better for books - the third (Bookhug) is a natural for the Kindle. My favorite place to read is at the kitchen counter and based on the height of my bar stools and the angle I like most for reading, this is perfection. I modified mine a bit for less than $2 to add more protection for the Kindle itself and to stop the sliding you get with the stock felt pads. I bought a small pack of clear, rubber, stick-on pads from Wal-Mart and placed them where the Kindle would not touch the stand itself. This way I can place it on the stand minus the leather cover or in the leather cover - both work well. I also placed pads where the Kindle would rest on the bottom of the stand. Oila! No slipping or scratching for my Kindle! Half the price of the stand you see in Kindle accessories!

5.0 out of 5 stars Attractive, small, and handy, March 14, 2009

A reasonably priced, well designed little gem, the Book Hug is excellent for use in the kitchen, at the table, in bed, for holding knitting books, small pads by the phone, and now for holding my Kindle 2, even while charging (if the Amazon cover is on and I prop it just so). For skinny books, I use a book weight to hold open the pages. For changing a book's angle in the stand, I stick something between the Hug and the back of the book/Kindle.

I'll be selling it at a yard sale, because it works only with books in a limited size range, and it's awkward to get the books in and out of the holder without damaging the pages. I much prefer my adjustable folding wire book holder.

3.0 out of 5 stars Does what it should, but..., March 28, 2009
This review is from: Book Hug (Office Product)
... it's not what I'd hoped. After seeing its website, I bought a Book Hug from Barnes and Noble as a gift, hoping it'd be small, light, and portable. It's none of these things. Sure, it's made of "unbreakable steel," but is that really necessary? The steel makes it pretty heavy, and, coupling this with its size, it's not very portable. You couldn't easily slip it in a small purse and take it with you to an airport terminal or a doctor office's waiting room. The steel also allows the company to sell them for around $12.95, which I think is expensive, considering how many cheaper--but no less effective--book holders there are out there. In addition, I was hoping the Book Hug would allow the book to lie flat on a table or your lap, and be able to adjust to accommodate different book thicknesses. It can't do either of these things.
For different purposes, Book Hug may be a good choice. But for me, it's useless. What I was hoping for isn't what I got. I'm returning the Book Hug and looking for a different book holder.
