3.0 out of 5 stars The King is dead Long Live the Queen?, May 24, 2007
By
David L. Kersey "The Geek" (Northern California, USA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
King has died without naming a heir and the kingdom is in turmoil. The great lords have come to the capital either in hopes of becoming the next King or to be in the good graces of whoever does become King. The widow Queen however does not what to see the kingdom fall into civil war.

The Good: Green & Murray's charters are believable and well rounded if somewhat unformed at the start of the book but we quickly grow to know them. The culture while the classic fantasy realm with swords and magic dose offer some new twist on old themes and introduces some interesting new peoples.

The Bad: This is the first book in a planned trilogy and reads like one. At the end of the book there is no real conclusion to anything, not even the most minor of plot lines, they are simply patched for now and the reader can see that they will comeback to haunt us later.

The Ugly: As far as I have been able to determine there is no book two or three to the Trilogy. It is truly bad form to tout a book a the start of a new epic series then never finish it.
