Fun game, puzzles a little on the easy side for an adult,

This review is from: Book of Legends (CD-ROM)
Lately, to save money in these tough times, I've been buying older, and cheaper, PC games. My first love is adventure games, but I also enjoy hidden object and pure puzzle games. The Book of Legends game, by Activision, is a nice little game, and I recommend it to the casual gaming adult (like me) or kids. I would think a 10-12 year old would find it the right balance of difficulty vs frustration.
This is a combination hidden object and puzzle game. It is mainly hidden object, with little puzzles thrown in here among the hidden object play. What I particularly liked about it is that the names of the hidden objects are not dumbed down. The Book of Legend quest takes you to different world-wide historical sites, and the hidden objects are (mostly) pertinent to that site. So, if you're in an ancient Egyptian temple, you are looking mainly for things that are found in a temple, and the true names of the objects are used. Sometimes, I didn't know what the object was (so I was learning!), but the game helps by giving you a shadow outline of what you're looking for. In one museum, for example, I was looking for a "bug exemplar". I'm still not quite sure what that means in archeological terms (try googling "bug exemplar" and see if you do better than me), but I was able to find the hidden bug exemplar nevertheless. This is a nice game for the money, especially as it has 90 levels to work through. It lasted me quite a while of casual gaming. Recommended!

Hidden Object - NOT Adventure!,
= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Book of Legends (CD-ROM)
I just want to make it very clear that this is not an adventure game, despite what the description claims. It is purely 100% a "hidden" objects game. I have no problem with those types of games, so long as they state that's what they are. I also would like to add that the voice acting is annoying at best as one character is always babbling about nonsense and the other is insulting and rude.
I would say this game is more geared towards the pre-teen ages (9-12) and is a bit easy for the adult crowd. However, if you enjoy hidden object games and want something simple to just pass an hour of your day, this would be a decent buy.

the Book of Legends game is so-so but the voice-overs are ANNOYING and non-stop. had to leave the game on mute and spent way too much time clicking through incessant and meaningless dialogue.
