5.0 out of 5 stars The Book of Life-A Very Special K Book
This volume is one of the most unique Krishnamurti books available. All the books by or about him seem to offer added insight but this book is very useful in what it brings to the reader. I found that it was best, for me, to read a week's worth of daily readings at a sitting since they are chosen to relate to each other...each week having a single focus. No book can...

2.0 out of 5 stars A passion for pomposity
Someone recommended this guy to me as a profound thinker. I feel badly not liking the book insomuch as I like some of what I have read *about* Krishnamurti, especially his repudiation of insitutionalized belief systems. This guy was bought by a rich British woman and raised to be a demi-god. It is laudable that he rebelled. When examining the content of this book,...

No book can capture the man or the totality of his challenge to us but this book surely is a must for anyone seriously trying to get an understanding of the man and his trying to verbalize that which is not easily expressed in words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really moving meditations full of wisdom and love., November 20, 2006

This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
The book is full of insightful meditions just to quote one:
"You want me to give you an assurance that you will live another life, but in that there is no happiness or wisdom. The search for immortality through reincarnation is essentially egotistic, and therefore not true. Your search for immortality is only another form of the desire for the continuance of self-defensive reactions against life and intelligence. Such a craving can only lead to illusion. So what matters is not whether there is reincarnation, but to realize complete fulfillment in the present. And you can do that only when your mind and heart are no longer protecting themselves against life. The mind is cunning and subtle in its self-defense, and it must discern for itself the illusory nature of self-protection. This means that you must think and act completely anew. You must liberate yourself from the net of false values which environment has imposed upon you. There must be utter nakedness. Then there is immortality, reality."

5.0 out of 5 stars Very thought-provoking book, December 12, 2007

This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
This is the third book I have read by Krishnamurti. It is excellent. It is truly profound. Several times, I have read something in this book, and then I have to pause just to let it soak in. Several pages I have even read twice, as each time I read it, I "see" something new. This book elucidates concepts such as love, sorrow, fear, etc., in a way that few books can. This book is setup like a year-long Calendar, with each page commentary on a different topic. It is easy to read, profound, and great as a bedside book. Read a few pages before bedtime every night. Great stuff to fall asleep on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!, October 29, 2003

This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
This book is a delightful collection of various passages in the works of Krishnamurti. These words of wisdom are loaded with wonderful lesson about life. The mere act of reading these passages makes me feel relaxed and content from the inside. After being inspired by many of these fascinating things about the nature of life from the book "The Ever-Transcending Spirit" by Toru Sato, I use this book by Krishnamurti for my daily meditations and it is absolutely wonderful!

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential book for anyone., July 15, 1998

This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
Krishnamurti is a modern philosopher, teacher, mystic. He goes right to the point discussing ideas that have to do with truth, love, experience, aloneness and many other subjects. He breaks it up in daily meditations so that we may be able to contemplate the meaning of his numerous subjects. An impressive body of work from a truly great master!

5.0 out of 5 stars daily wisdom, February 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
I read a lot of Krishnamurti and I definitely love his methods of analysis and his language.
I even adore his rebellion, which I assume is just his own right to have a private place for
earthly experience, that made him more grounded in his observations after all.

While in his other works he might impose more complex units of thought, not so easy to
grasp at any moment of the day (not for us, binary people), this book has an easy approach
of an abstract calendar. It is written in a more simple way then his other works, but it is
thoughtfully structured to work together with your reflexions. Trying to read it too fast
would probably make you miss the point, as it is absolutely important here to give yourself
time to reflect or try to apply the tiny tweaks in your approach to certain phenomena, as
he is sometimes suggesting. I keep it at the bedside and give it ±15 minutes before sleep.
Each page works like a little infusion of clarity and by doing this I got much better taste of
the essence that he was trying to convey throughout his otherwise more wordily elaborations.
If you happen to practice meditation, the playground for application becomes even bigger
and far more interesting. Once you read it, you'd probably want to do it again. Recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars It will wake you up, May 31, 2009
This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
One of my favorite book of favorite author. Krishnamurti was one of the most wisest men who ever lived. You'll not find in this book "milk and water" to fill the space, nor propaganda or brainwashing tactics of modern cults. You'll face the truth of human psych and society, how it is. You'll see the mirror and us-humans in it. Our media and books - mostly full of nonsense, entertainment, and hidden agendas. Our education system is a machine that makes us one minded robots capable to operate in a very narrow field of particular job .. that's the root of our problems.... If everyone could read, listen Krishnamurti for at least a half of hour a day.. This world would be a better place..

5.0 out of 5 stars Breadth and Depth, March 24, 2010

This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
I am an avid reader of Krishnamurti's work. I think he was probably the most enlightened and insightful human being in recorded history. We are very fortunate to have had someone with his clarity share his insights at a time when his words could be carefully recorded and transcribed to avoid the misinterpretation, confusion, and distortion that have occurred with past enlightened people like Christ.

This particular book is a great collection of some of K's most powerful and profound insights organized into categories like love, religion, the self, etc.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Of His Books for The Average Reader, October 18, 2009
This review is from: The Book of Life: Daily Meditations with Krishnamurti (Paperback)
NOT NEW AGE FLUFF BUT GROUNDED DEEP THOUGHT IDEAS. This book gives you one PROFOUND lesson to be read every day. It pretty much sums up much of his message into small daily lessons. Do not buy this book unless you are a deep thinker.
