4.0 out of 5 stars Ahhh...
One of my favorites from AS! This has got to be their most relaxing album. "So Much Love" is fantastic. Their soothing voices just make you want to breathe deeply and close your eyes! I really love the song "Once", the piano is great. Some people say Russell is "losing his beautiful voice". I say he just gets better and better! After listening to the mournful "Daybreak",...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of work.
I remember buying this album on the day of it's release. I was able to get a few days early as I worked at a record store and was very excited at the thought of a new album from Air Supply. I was not dissaponted. "So Much Love" is a beautiful song that is destined to be a classic Air Supply song as well as many other gems from this disc. The debate of Russell's voice will...

After listening to the mournful "Daybreak", I hope you'll agree with me. "Let's Stay Together Tonight" is really worth listening to, despite its length of almost eight minutes. Stress? Forgotten. Worry? Relieved. Kick off your shoes, put your feet up and immerse yourself in the pages of The Book Of Love!

4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, but I prefer their earlier works, February 7, 2000

This album is great but I prefer their earlier works. My favourites in this album are strong, strong wind, daybreak, and most of all, let's stay together tonight. Let's stay together tonight is a song really worth listening to. Incredible performance by Russell, I can listen to it again and agian!

Strangely, this must be the best album made by the the Air Supply singers/songwriter. It takes a lot of meditation to merge the gritty world of today, with the popish beauty of 1980. On this record, every song is desirable. The songwriter continues to message his truth that giving love is all. Only one song has a vocal track slightly nearing flat - but let's not forget, vocals beneath the wings of some other singers could sound as good (yet bette on worse.) Russell Hitchcock's vocals have an extraordinarily pleasant raspy quality to them here, that are either miked perfectly, or mixed well, and rarely heard like this. The Kurzweil piano on "once" could use a little reverb. Very nice to hear from Rex Goh again.

5.0 out of 5 stars ONE OF MY FAVORITES FROM AIR SUPPLY, October 4, 2000

This review is from: Book of Love (Audio CD)
Although A.S. has many hit albums, this one happens to be my favorite. "Daybreak" and "When I Say" are two outstanding pieces I never tire of listening to. Both the lyrics and music haunting. "Mother Said" has very unusual lyrics one might well relate to if they ever lost a mother to illness. If you like Air Supply, don't miss this one!

2.0 out of 5 stars Lighter Than The Air, January 12, 2008
This review is from: Book of Love (Audio CD)
Air Supply is an Australian duo which dominated charts during early 80s with powerful emotional vocal and harmony. Their 1997 comeback effort in contrast become much more milder and lighter and lack the impact and intensity they used to deliver during 80s. Some tracks are plain soft smooth light soothing pop and the a few memorable tracks include WE THE PEOPLE and SO MUCH LOVE. You can enjoy this album if you like Bee Gees or Brian Wilson.

Verdict: Well I still cannot fully get used to their changes just as it happened to Bryan Adams, Asia, Richard Marx and so...
Rating: 53 out of 100. Some are nice in its own right some lack vigor.
Recommended for: Die hard fans and smooth pop fans.

The debate of Russell's voice will continue. He has lost his trademark powerful vocals but is still the Russell Hitchcock that we know and love. The man is getting older and so is his voice. Accept it or be destined to listening to only 80's Air Supply records and being closed minded. This album is very good other than the final track "All That You Want" which is OBVIOUSLY a filler song to extend thr album a little. Could have deleted that last track.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's alright, March 12, 2005
This review is from: Book of Love (Audio CD)
I'm a fan of Russell and his up tempo, emotion sparking ballads. This is a great album if you're a fan of Graham. I couldn't get interested in it, except for, "So much Love", but I can only listen to that one so much. Still a pretty good LP though

4.0 out of 5 stars Too good for words, it just needs to be enjoyed!, August 10, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Book of Love (Audio CD)
Picture a love movie end scene, of a couple enjoying dusk in front of an unusually calm ocean, that is what the instrumental "Once" is. Very well achieved!. Russell's voice makes you deam again in "Daybreak". The whole album is excellent, unfortunatelly it is shame that in this particular american edition there is a song missing ("Strong, strong wind").

4.0 out of 5 stars AIR SUPPLY DELIVERS MELODY AND LOVE, May 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Book of Love (Audio CD)
I LISTENED TO THIS LP SEVERAL TIMES. AIR SUPPLY MAKES THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MUSIC OF OUR TIME AND THE"BOOK OF LOVE" IS NOTHING SHORT OF THAT. THOUGH THE SONG "ALL THAT YOU WANT" LACKS HARMONY AND A REPETITIVE OF LYRICS IT IS AN EROTIC SONG. "WHEN I SAY" AND "DAYBREAK" ARE VERY POWERFUL BALLADS AND THE SONGS DELIVER THAT "AIR SUPPLY" QUALITY WE HAVE COME TO LOVE. MY MOST FAVORITE SONG ON THE ALBUM IS "LETS STAY TOGETHER TONIGHT" IS BY FAR THE BEST ON THE ALBUM. THE VOCALS ARE FANTASTIC, THE CHORDS AND STRINGS REALLY DELIVER A DIFFERENT SOUND. TO A POINT THE SONG HAS SOME R&B BEAT TO IT THAT IS VERY GOOD. EVEN IF THE SONG LASTS FOR 6:47 MIN. IT DOESN'T MATTER BECUSE THIS SONG CAN GO ON FOREVER. "ONCE" IS ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL SONG ON THE LP, IT IS AN INTSRUMENTAL AND IT WILL TAKE YOUR BREATH AWAY. GRAHAM RUSSELL PRODUCED AND WROTE ALL OF THE MUSIC AND I HOPE THAT MR. RUSSELL KEEPS UP THE GREAT ARRANGEMENTS LIKE THE "BOOK OF LOVE". MAYBE IN THE FUTURE WE WILL HERE MORE AIR SUPPLY ON THE AIR WAVES BECUSE THE RADIO STATIONS MUST HAVE BEEN SLEEPING WHEN THIS ONE CAME OUT.
