Nice, but not for everyone,

This review is from: A Book Lover's Diary (Hardcover)
This "book diary" was recently gifted to me & I find myself very pleased to have it. I have found four sections particularily useful:
Book Lists - Books to Read Record Book - Of Books Read Book Keeping - Books I Want to Own Books to Remember - I Must Remember to Read These Books Again Most of the others I could do without; but it is very helpful to gather in one place all the books that catch my eye (though I certainly have not the time to read them all!) and everything I have finished. It certainly beats a collection of loose notes! The paper is of decent quality, the quotes and illustrations scattered throughout are pleasant, and the book is an appropriate size. What I dislike about the book is that it is not very flexible: within, for example, "record book", are sections to record by title (expansive) and by author or subject (very simple). Does one record everything thrice? If only once, which format is to be preferred? How will you tell the order of reading, if you spread them out between the three? There are 34 complete records here, which would only last me 3-4 months, so I've gone with just using the simple form. Likewise, there are whole sections of the book that are a waste to me, spaces dedicated to books borrowed or lent, book clubs, and address space for bookstores & libraries. Nonetheless, I'm glad to have it. But I would recommend thoroughly browsing it before you buy & deciding whether it really fits your needs.

A wonderful gift for book lovers! I love it !,
This review is from: A Book Lover's Diary (Hardcover)
My sister ordered this book for me for my birthday. I was so excited when I opened the package and found the wonderful pages to document my reading, copy favorite quotes, list books I loved as a child (and still do), keep track of books I want to read, and more. This simple organizer is lovely! It has numerous wonderful quotes about books and reading from various sources. I took several evenings to browse through it thoroughly. I still enjoy just looking at it. The paper is of a very high quality. The colors are minimal to prevent competition with the reader's entries. If you love reading, get your hands on this little gem to store all your favorite memories of books!

Best looking, and also very useful,

For my purposes (described in an earlier review) this is probably the most satisfactory book journal. The other book diary BookNotes was the best as a gift to a young child, in my opinion, even though it was not quite what I wanted.I wanted a place to record all the books I read by subject, by title and by author. This has that. I wanted a journal where I could jot brief notes about books. This has that as well. I think I am keeping this one for myself. One caveat - I wish that this book had a bookmark (marker) included. But I can easily stick one in myself.

Great Book for Records,
This review is from: A Book Lover's Diary (Hardcover)
I found "A Book Lover's Diary" to be a great place for keeping track of books you want to own, book club meetings and book records. It's very nicely formatted with great qoutes on books in between records. It made it a lot easier for me to remember books that I would like to read/buy later on. If you're a forgetful person like I am, this "diary" would definitely help.

EXCELLENT,

I just bought my third "Book Lover's Diary." Best way to keep a list of the books I own and want. And lots of space to record what I've read. I read about 8 books a month and there was plenty of space to mention each. My only complaint would be to note that there are only about two lines to write your thoughts on each book. That's very rarely enough space for decent notes.
But otherwise, this book is the best thing of its kind I've found so far.

I bought this book as a gift for a friend based on the great categories it has to offer for recording book information. I was so disappointed to find that the spaces allowed for writing are so small. Also, the book is hard to navigate. The hard cover and hard binding don't allow for anyone to write it in it (inflexible). I gave it as a gift still, but I had to apologize for what a cruddy book it was.

Not a Journal I'd Use Myself,

This review is from: A Book Lover's Diary (Hardcover)
I purchased this book journal many years ago and have never used it. The way it is organized does not meet my needs. It is organized into the following sections:
Book Lists - Books to Read This section is divided into three parts - subject, author and title. For the life of me, I can't understand why. Usually, I will read a review and jot down the name of the book, the author and sometimes a sentence or two about the book. I would never be organized enough to divide my entries into the above categories. I also think that the way the journal separates the categories of books to read is confusing. Record Book - Of Books Read This section is good for the most part. It is divided into some whole pages for notes. Other pages are divided into four sections and there are two lines available to make notes about the book. Book Keeping - Books I want to Own I don't really see any difference between this section and the Book Lists - Books to Read Section. It seems like wasted space. Sharing Books This section is to track books loaned, books borrowed, books received as gifts and books given as gifts. Talking About Books - Book Groups This is a place to list the names and phone numbers of members of your book group. There is also space to make notes about books read. Again, this seems redundant. Why not use the Record Book section to write about books and notate if a book is read as part of the Book Group. Books to Remember This is a nice section. There are pages with the following lines on top: If I were stranded on a desert island, I would want to have these books with me. I must remember to read these books again. When I was a child my favorite books were: Book Passages This is a section to write down quotations. Again, it seems redundant. I choose to write my quotations in the context of my review. Address Book - Libraries, Bookstores, Book Clubs There is space for 14 names and numbers. I have many more than than. Also, there is already a section to list names and numbers of book club members. All in all, I would never use this journal and do not like it.

A Book Addicts Best Friend.,

This review is from: A Book Lover's Diary (Hardcover)
I purchased A Book Lover's Diary a few months back, and I am so glad I did. It is the perfect addition to my growing library!
A Book Lover's Diary is a small hardcover book that has lots of room for the various lists, that are essential to book collecting. Books you want, books you have read, favorite books, etc. It even has space to add if you have lent your books out and to whom so you can keep track of who is borrowing them. I think that is a great feature. But, what I believe is the best feature is that is is small enough to put in my purse when I go out. I don't know how many times I have gone to the book store and forgotten what books I want to read, due to the fact that there are so many. With A Book Lover's Diary with me, I have it all down on paper! Which makes my book hunting that much more simple! I would buy this book again in a heartbeat, and whole-heartedly recommend it for any book lovers out there!

Don't read this book by its cover,

This review is from: A Book Lover's Diary (Hardcover)
This is an excellent item for a booklover to have, as detailed by other reviewers. Be careful, though-- The book is not the luscious item, with embossed title, ribbon closing, and included bookmark, that is suggested by the photo. The "photo" is actually the artwork on the cover of the real book, which is bound blank-book style.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Book Lover's Diary (Hardcover)
This diary offers many different ways for you to record books that you love. You can build a list of books you really want to read or buy. This list can go by author, title, or subject. You can build a list of books you have read by author, title, or subject that you have read and write a small review. This diary is a compliment to the two books Book Lust and More Book Lust. Great for adults as well as for the older elementary age child up through college. Have fun recording all you read as well as what you want to read or buy in the future.
