Review

"a tour de force that would thrill any list maker. . . . This is one lusty librarian." –Los Angeles Times "Nancy Pearl is the talk of librarian circles." --The New York Times "Nancy Pearl has pretty much become the librarian version of a rock star

About the Author

Nancy Pearl created the program "If All of Seattle Read the Same Book," which has spread across America. She lectures widely to librarians and book lovers and can be heard on NPR's Morning Edition. She lives in Seattle.

More About the Author

From Nancy: My lust for books and reading began when I was a very young child, and has continued unabated for lo, these many many years. Every time I open a new book to read, it's like embarking on a voyage to an unexplored place that just might be filled with wonder and excitement.

The books I love most tend to have three-dimensional characters and be very well-written (although that definition is fluid). I read everything - mysteries, non-fiction (especially history, memoirs, and current events), literary fiction, science fiction and fantasy, andchildren's books (lots and lots, for my upcoming book, Book Crush), and anything else that looks interesting. I love first novels.

More About Nancy: Nancy Pearl is a librarian and lifelong reader. She regularly comments on books on National Public Radio's Morning Edition. Among her many awards and honors are the 2011 Librarian of the Year Award from Library Journal; the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association; the 2010 Margaret E. Monroe Award from the Reference and Users Services Association of the American Library Association; and the 2004 Women's National Book Association Award, given to "a living American woman who ...has done meritorious work in the world of books beyond the duties or responsibilities of her profession or occupation."

I returned this one and kept a smaller, simpler, more portable book journal. I just don't have paragraphs to say about things I read -- I'm making notes to my future self and keeping track of what I read and what I want to read. This journal is for people who really want to spend time and space reflecting on what they've read.

This journal is great. There are plenty of pages for each of the four sections without being bulky or oversized. You have plenty of room to write a review of the books you've read. I was not bothered by the "no dividers" thing. I simply used the sticky tabs that are small and different colors, and placed them at the beginning of the four sections. presto-fix-o. enjoy your reading adventures, then use this book to recount the places you visit!

I read so many books as a kid I can't even begin to try to remember them all. This is a great way for anyone to keep track of their readings. I've recently started reading for pleasure again and find much comfort that I have my feelings and memories about the book at my finger tips. No more wondering 'why was it i liked that book so much, I can't possibly remember, it's been so long since I've read it...'

The only thing that could make it better would be some kind of divider to help you find the separate sections faster. Otherwise, a great purchase!

Book Lust Journal (LUST)

how many times have we read a great book, think about it for a day or two, and then go on to the next? this wonderful little journal has helped me to recall all the feelings i have had immediately after the book's conclusion.there are a few different sections, including any memorable lines that have impacted you, and a section listing anyone you have loaned the book to. great for book clubs when you have to recall a book you have red in the past.

This journal is very useful to take notes as you read. The only problem I found is that the wishlist section is too short. I also could have done without the large book loan section. I don't loan out books unless I don't care if I get them back.

Plenty of room for notes and thoughts on the books- no 30 wasted pages for book club "contacts" or other cutesy stuff. I bought two for friends and they both liked them too. Very happy with the purchase! My only requested improvement would be to have it spiral bound so you could fold it back on itself when writing.

This is a great way to keep track of not only what you have read, but a little something about each of the books as well. You can write a review, or a synopsis, whatever you desire. Its a great way to track your reading progress. Use the amazon feature "look inside" to see the layout of the book.
