Amazon.com Review

As stress-related illness becomes an increasingly recognized term, natural relaxation techniques are gaining in popularity. For those looking to get started on a serene approach to life, The Book of Massage & Aromatherapy is as straightforward as the title suggests: it presents the hows and whys of combining two ancient healing arts. Coauthor Nitya Lacroix, cofounder of the School of Holistic Massage in London, runs regular training courses in massage--and it shows. With more than 500 step-by-step color photographs (complete with instructional arrows), this book was clearly written for a student. Its practical, hands-on approach provides a solid foundation for incorporating aromatherapy and massage into a daily routine. Starting with the basics and progressing to more advanced techniques, The Book of Massage & Aromatherapy does its best to cover the gamut. You'll find massage for headaches and insomnia, baby massage, self-massage, cellulite and detoxification massage, and more. Of course, if you just want to learn how to give a really good back rub, you can learn that, too. --Sara Nickerson --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

4.0 out of 5 stars very good basics book with lots of color pictures, August 11, 1999
By A Customer
This book could be sub-titled "A great way to your partners happiness - help save your marriage" The pages are unusually thick paper for a inexpensive book today. There are many many color pictures all through the book. Just enough aromatherapy to get you started and more than enough massage concepts to keep you busy. My wife said after her first session "Did you learn all that from reading the book ? "

Well structured, well illustrated, very good overall coverage of massage therapy. It also contains good basics on aromatherapy. An excellent starter book and refresher course. I would reccommend this book to anyone who is interested in getting started. It will take you well beyond the basics.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this book!, May 18, 2001

This book is a wealth of information for both aromatherapy and massage. I ordered it for the aromatherapy part, but I found the massage portion of the book to be equally beneficial. I have many massage books in my library, but I return to this one time after time. I esspecially like the aromatherapy encyclopedia, which covers most every essential oil and its most beneficial use.
