This is an incredible book; but..... ;-),

This review is from: The Book of Miracles: The Healing Work of Joao de Deus (Paperback)
This is an incredible book; but some westerners will have a hard time wrapping their minds around part of the information conveyed in this book. This book relates the story of Joao de Deus (John of God) The Miracle man of Casa de Dom Ignacio (The House of St. Ignatius) located in Brazil. People visit this healing center from all over the world for healing, Joao does surgeries without the use of sterile surgical instruments, and not once has an infection or disease been transmitted from one person to another. Here is the information that people will be unable to wrap their minds around. Joao does these surgeries without anesthesia, and the patients feel no pain during the surgeries with almost no bleeding. The Casa de Dom Ignacio is also famous for what is called "invisible surgeries" In some of the healing rooms called "current rooms" they sit in chairs or lie down on cots, and place their hands over the area they need an invisible surgery, and many people report finding an incision there later. I am not going to dismiss any of it because the author seems sincere, and I have seen other things (namely Qigong masters, and some of my healing sessions) that would be every bit as hard for people to wrap their minds around. For the disbeliever; no amount of proof is adequate. For the experiencer; no amount of proof is necessary. Aloha nui loa (I love you very much)

This book is very helpful in introducing the reader to John of God and the Casa and detailing his years of healing. The book is written by a healer who understands the energy and the spirit behind the Casa. Each chapter shares stories of healing from different viewpoints, the writer, the staff, the hopefuls who travel for days by bus to be touched by John of God.
If you believe in spiritual healing this book is right for you. If you have an inquiring mind, but are unsure, I would recommend you read "Spiritual Alliances" first.

I enjoyed this book. It gave a very informative picture of what goes on down in Brazil with John of God. I would recomend anybody thinking of going down there should read this book first. An expedition to John of God is not for the lazy or half-hearted spiritual seeker. You are required to excercise self discipline and stick to a restricted diet for 40 days. Often you are invited to sit and meditate for hours at a time. It is not a vacation, but if you are serious about change it would probably be a life changing experience. The book contains many stories about amazing healings that are really inspiring.
