I think for so many of us there are things in our lives that are truly unexplainable. For individuals of faith, however, these are things that we are not surprised at but privileged to know that we have received the gift. In Dr Bernie S. Siegel's new book A BOOK OF MIRACLES we are able to see examples of individuals who not only believed but were able to act in harmony with their beliefs, enjoying the reward.
Sprinkled throughout the book are sage words of wisdom that allow us to know that these don't have to be things we just hear about. We are able to receive the gifts as well! What struck me as one of the important lessons of the book is the timing. It might not come at the time that we want or the individuals that we read about may expect, but the timing is always right.

Once again, Bernie Siegel has pulled off another wonderful workshop or class in healing, love and inspiration. Bernie uses one of the best forms of teaching - people's stories - as well as his own summaries and memos, to instill his message that we are all healers and we all are able to find miracles if only we have faith, listen, watch and believe. From the birth of a whale, witnessed by two people sailing to the selfless acts of generosity that fed homeless people Thanksgiving dinner and gave them a community/family - to the man who avoided certain death when a familiar German accented voice reached through the fog and pulled him back from the unseen crevasse, to Bernie's own daughter telling how her Dad saved her son - these stories are uplifting and deeply touching. Almost every story evokes the desire to share it with someone, multipying the effect of healing and comfort with every share. Every morning I read Bernie's prescription for the day (365 Prescriptions for the Soul)and it amazes me how often that particular one was the perfect one - the only one - that I needed to read at that moment. A Book of Miracles contains this element. One story could be read each day, or each week, and the reader would benefit from the lesson contained inside. People who submit these stories do so because they were powerful experiences. These events changed their lives. Many are about people who were diagnosed with terminal or severe, chronic conditions, and they explain how their miracle literally healed and saved them. These aren't magic miracles; they are changes in attitude, willingness to consider advice or refusal to people-please and accept other's negative words. This book teaches so many lessons in a easy-to-read, comfortable and warm fashion. The cover is beautiful as well. I love the light spreading between spiritually healing colors. This book makes a perfect gift for everyone. Put this on your list for giving: Christmas, Hannukah, Thanksgiving, Visiting, saying Thanks, giving Encouragement. The lessons are priceless.

Bernie Siegel reminds us that miracles are an important part of life. If we know how to change our perceptions, we will recognize them when they are happening to us and others. The Book of Miracles is a must read for anyone who is going through a difficult life situation and feels alone and powerless. It uplifts our souls, gives us hope and empowers us to keep going. It provides the guidance we need to live with more love, peace and gratitude. I am reminded to stay focused on the positive and expect miracles to touch me and others.
Through stories, quotes, suggestions and reflections, the book guides us into a deeper understanding of the perceptions and attitudes we must cultivate to attract miracles.
